A man has been arrested and charged following the armed robbery of a pharmacy in Albury yesterday morning.

About 9:45am, Monday 14 November 2011, a 52-year-old man attended the pharmacy on Dean Street and approached the dispensary counter.

The man allegedly produced a knife and threatened staff while demanding prescription medications.

He was handed an amount of restricted prescription medications before fleeing the scene in his car.

Staff triggered the hold-up alarms and contacted police who arrived at the scene a short time later.

The 52-year-old man was later located at a house in Dean Street where he was subsequently arrested.

It will be alleged police located the stolen medicines and clothing worn during the armed robbery inside the man’s car.

He was taken to Albury Base Hospital for treatment of a medical condition before being taken to Albury Police Station and charged with robbery armed with offensive weapon.

He has been refused bail to appear in Albury Local Court today.
