A man will appear in court today charged with the armed robbery of an electronics store at Katoomba.
Police will allege about 10:55am, Monday 14 November 2011, a 27-year-old man entered the store on Katoomba Street and picked up a remote control helicopter.
He then allegedly walked out of the store without paying for the item before he was challenged by a staff member.
During the incident the man allegedly produced a syringe and threatened the member of staff before leaving the area.
A short time later detectives were patrolling the area when they saw the man and challenged him.
He was subsequently arrested and taken to Katoomba Police Station where he was charged with a number of offences including armed robbery and carry cutting weapon.
The 27-year-old man has been refused bail to appear in Katoomba Local Court today.
