A man and a woman have been charged in relation to the armed robbery of a Narromine hotel following investigations by the Robbery and Serious Crime Squad and Orana Local Area Command.
Just after 10pm on Tuesday 13 December 2011, a masked person entered the hotel on Dandaloo Street armed with a shortened firearm.
A female staff member was threatened and handed over a sum of cash before the masked person fled the scene. The staff member and one patron inside the hotel were uninjured.
Detectives made inquiries into the incident under Strike Force Coastal, established to investigate an alleged criminal group involved in armed robberies.
Their investigations led them to Tamworth where a man and a woman were arrested without incident at 5.15pm yesterday and taken to Tamworth Police Station.
A search warrant was also executed at Kenny Drive, Tamworth, where a number of items were seized for forensic analysis.
A 43-year-old man was charged with robbery whilst armed with a dangerous weapon and a 34-year-old woman was charged with deal with the proceeds of crime.
Both were refused bail to face Tamworth Local Court today.
Investigations under Strike Force Coastal are ongoing.
