Police have arrested two men after a convenience store in Haymarket was allegedly robbed this morning.
Police went to a store in Ultimo Road in Haymarket after a hold-up alarm was activated shortly before 4.30am.
The store employee told police three men – one armed with a screwdriver – had entered the store and threatened him demanding cash.
They took the cash register and the men ran from the store.
A description of a vehicle believed involved in the incident was circulated by police radio.
Two men were arrested about 30 minutes later in parklands in the Hillsdale/Matraville area following a foot pursuit.
Police from City Central, Surry Hills, Eastern Beaches and Botany Bay were involved in the incident.
The men have been taken to Maroubra Police Station where they are assisting with inquiries into the robbery.
A cash register – containing cash – has also been recovered and is being sent for forensic examination
