Police are appealing for information following the armed robbery of a liquor store at Panania last night.

About 8:35pm, Saturday 17 December 2011, a man armed with a hunting knife entered the liquor store on Anderson Avenue and walked up to the counter.

The man threatened staff and two customers with the knife while demanding they get on the floor.

He proceeded to walk behind the counter and help himself to cash from the registers before grabbing several bottles of spirits.

The armed man ran out of the store and got into a grey Holden Commodore which was last seen travelling east on Weston Street. No one was injured during the robbery.

Police were contacted and attended the store where they established a crime scene which was examined by officers from the Forensic Armed Robbery Unit.

Investigators are looking for a man who has been described as being of Pacific Islander appearance, 175cm tall with a stocky build and wearing a dark grey hooded top, dark pants and cream coloured boots.
