Police are investigating the armed robbery of a bowling club at Wellington last night. About 6.50pm (Monday 19 December), a man armed with a meat cleaver entered the bowling club on Clive Street and approached the bar. The man threatened a 63-year-old employee and demanded money. A club patron rang Triple Zero (000) to report the robbery and local officers, with the assistance of a police dog, searched the area without success. A crime scene was established where detectives interviewed a number of club patrons and the male employee. Nobody was injured. The offender was wearing a black hooded jumper with a stocking over his face, dark tracksuit pants and runners.
