Police from Miranda Local Area Command have arrested and charged a man following the armed robbery of a pharmacy in Caringbah.
About 9.20am yesterday (Wednesday 18 January 2012), a man entered a chemist on President Aveune armed with a knife.
A female shop attendant was threatened with the knife before the man fled on foot with a small sum of cash. No one was injured during the incident.
After attending the scene and interviewing witnesses, police conducted a canvass of the area. As a result, a knife and other items of interest were located nearby and seized for forensic examination.
About 3.30pm yesterday, police attended a property in Robertson Street, Sutherland and arrested a 41-year-old man.
The man was taken to Miranda Police Station where he was charged with armed robbery.
Bail was refused with the matter to be heard in Sutherland Local Court today (Thursday 19 January 2012)
