Detectives investigating a series of armed robberies in Sydney’s north-west have charged a man after his arrest at Sydney Domestic Airport.
Strike Force Orarah, comprising Eastwood and Gladesville Detectives, has been investigating robberies that have occurred in the West Ryde, Marsfield and Eastwood areas since 6 December 2011.
These include a number of street robberies.
It will be alleged the 20-year-old Ermington man had disembarked from a Queensland flight at the time he was arrested yesterday afternoon (Tuesday 17 January 2012).
He has been taken to Ryde Police Station where he was subsequently charged with three robbery offences.
The 20-year-old was refused bail and will appear in Parramatta Local Court today (Wednesday 18 January 2012).
Strike Force detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding a number of other robberies that occurred in the north-west of Sydney since the beginning of December 2011.
A search warrant was executed at a home in Ermington and a number of items including SIM cards and phone accessories were located. These are being examined to determine any links to strike force inquiries.
