The Serious and Violent Crime Squad have been reviewing an armed robbery at the Kirra Sports Club at Coolangatta on June 6, 2011.

Around 6am a man approached an employee of the Appel Street club as he arrived for work. The offender has produced a handgun and threatened the employee.

The man has then forced the employee to open a safe in the premises before securing the employee and fleeing with a sum of money.

The offender is described as being between 175-180cm tall with a solid build.

At the time of the offence the offender was wearing a black balaclava, a black jacket with a grey hood, black tracksuit pants with a thin white stripe down the leg, white and blue gloves and white runners.

As part of the review being conducted by detectives CCTV captured images of a man in the premises a few days prior to the offence.

Police are asking this man or anyone who may know his identity to please contact police.

The man is not considered to be a suspect but may have information that would assist investigations in relation to this matter.
