Police have charged two men with assault occasioning bodily harm whilst armed and in company, after an employee sustained a leg wound following an alleged disturbance at a Cairns convenience store last evening.
It will be alleged two men armed with knives attempted to smash the glass front doors of the Sheridan Street business around 9.15pm. The male employee was allegedly injured when he attempted to stop the men entering the store.
The 17-year-old employee was treated at the Cairns Base Hospital for a minor leg laceration.
Two Cairns men, aged 17 and 18, have also been charged with threatening violence and willful damage. The 18-year-old was also charged with obstruct police and willful damage to police property.
Both are due to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court today.
