A 25-year-old Mudgeeraba man has been arrested and charged in relation to an attempted armed robbery of a business at Burleigh Heads yesterday.
Just after 7pm the man entered a store on West Street, Burleigh Heads and on approaching the attendant at the counter, produced a weapon and demanded cash.
The store attendant saw the weapon was a fake and challenged the offender, who fled the premises.
Police located the man a short time later.
The man has been charged with one count of stealing and one count of attempted armed robbery and is due to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on Monday May 30.
