Detectives from Kings Cross Local Area Command are investigating the armed robbery of a hotel in Potts Point earlier today (Thursday 28 June 2012).
About 2am, two men entered the hotel on Victoria Street and approached the night manger at the front desk.
While one of the men stood in the reception’s foyer, the second man made his way behind the counter and produced a large screwdriver. He ordered the hotel employee to the ground.
After taking cash from the register, the man threatened the 22-year-old male staff member, claiming to have a firearm, and ordered him to the hotel safe.

At this time, another staff member – a 35-year-old man – inadvertently entered the safe area. Both staff were ordered to the ground before the armed man took a sum of cash.
The two staff were then instructed to stay in an adjoining room. They were not injured in the robbery.
Police are now searching for two men. One is described as being of solid build, about 168cm tall and at the time was wearing a grey hoodie and black pants. He was carrying a black backpack and umbrella.
The second man is of thin build, about 183cm tall and was wearing a black jumper, black jeans and black beanie. He was also carrying an umbrella.
