Detectives from City Central Local Area Command are investigating the armed robbery of a hotel in Sydney last night.

About 9.15pm yesterday (Monday 25 June 2012), a man walked into the hotel on Castlereagh Street and approached the female receptionist, the only staff member in attendance at the time.

The man produced a screwdriver and demanded money from the woman, who handed over cash.

The man then left the property and ran onto Castlereagh Street.

Police were called and an investigation into the incident has commenced.

The man police are looking for is described as being of Indian/Pakistani appearance, 25-35 years of age, and approximately 170cm tall.

At the time of the incident, he was wearing a black hooded jumper with red writing across the front, dark blue jeans and grey shoes.
