A man will face court this month charged with attempted fraud at high-end jewellery shops and other offences.
Middle Eastern Organised Crime Squad (MEOCS) detectives established Strike Force Lowland to investigate the attempted murder of two men whose car was fired upon at a Rockdale shopping centre on 13 December 2011.
That investigation was subsequently widened to include a range of other crimes, including public-place shootings, drug supply, attempted fraud, and break-ins.
On 27 June 2012, Strike Force Lowland detectives executed a search warrant at an address in Bardwell Valley, where they seized clothing and a quantity of prescription testosterone.
Following further inquiries, police stopped a vehicle in Forest Road, Bexley, about 2am on Tuesday 4 July 2012.
The 27-year-old male driver was arrested and taken to Kogarah Police Station, where he was charged with three counts of use false document to obtain financial advantage.
Police will allege the man used a fraudulent credit card in an unsuccessful attempt to purchase luxury watches from jewellery shops in Parramatta and the Sydney CBD in May 2012.
The man was also charged with break, enter and steal in relation to an incident at a hair-dressing salon in Rockdale in June 2012, and possess prescribed restricted substance.
He was granted conditional bail to appear at Kogarah Local Court on 24 July 2012.
Seven people are already before the courts as a result of Strike Force Lowland.
