Police have arrested two men following investigations into an armed robbery and a separate shooting incident which occurred in the Lake Illawarra region in April.
In the first incident on the evening of 13 April, two men entered a supermarket on Meehan Drive, Kiama, and allegedly threatened a staff member and a customer with a rifle and machete.
The two men left with a sum of cash.
The following evening, a man allegedly armed with a rifle attended a home in Osprey Place, Albion Park Rail, and discharged the weapon into a front window. Police were told a second man waited in the front yard.
Fortunately, no-one was injured in either incident and officers later seized a rifle and machete during a subsequent police operation.
Following further inquiries by detectives under Strike Force Gungah, a 30-year-old man was arrested on Thursday and charged with robbery whilst armed and a number of firearm offences.
He appeared at Wollongong Local Court and was refused bail to reappear on 27 July.
Yesterday (Friday 3 June), a 26-year-old man was arrested and charged with robbery whilst armed, a number of firearm offences and two counts of intimidating police.
He was refused bail and will appear before Wollongong Local Court on 7 June.
