A man will face court today after a taxi driver was allegedly threatened with a firearm in Sydney’s inner west last night (Friday 3 June).

About 11pm a taxi picked up a man in Rose Bay who asked to be taken to Marrickville.

Upon arriving at Petersham Road, Marrickville, the driver requested the fare be paid but the passenger left the cab.

The driver exited the vehicle to again request payment, but a firearm was allegedly produced and pointed at him.

Fearing for his safety, the driver retreated and contacted police who arrived a short time later and arrested a man nearby.

Officers allegedly seized a replica pistol.

A 39-year-old Rose Bay man has been charged with threatening to use an offensive weapon. He was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Bail Court today.
