Police are conducting inquiries after a woman was injured during an armed robbery in Sydney’s south yesterday morning.

About 7.25am (Sunday 29 July 2012), a woman was working behind the counter of a takeaway shop on Cambrai Avenue, Engadine, when a man entered the store and attempted to steal money from the cash register.

A struggle took place between the man and the woman, during which the woman produced a golf club from under the counter.

The man took the golf club from the woman and struck her on the head with it. The woman then ran from the shop. The man stole her wallet from her handbag and fled the scene.

He was last seen entering a silver Ford Escape. That vehicle was later confirmed as stolen, and was recovered on Engadine Avenue, Engadine.

The woman received a gash to her head in the incident, which required a number of stitches.

The man was wearing a grey hooded jumper, and carrying a green enviro-bag at the time of the incident
