Police are investigating an armed robbery in Sydney’s west.

About 8.50pm, a man entered a convenience store on Palmer Street, Parramatta, and threatened the owner with a handgun and a large knife.

He was given a small amount of cash, and also removed an amount of cigarettes, before fleeing the scene on foot.

He has been described as being of solid build, about 180cm tall, and was wearing dark clothing. He was possibly of Mediterranean/Middle Eastern appearance or Pacific Islander appearance.

The 55-year-old male owner was uninjured.
