Police on Sydney’s North Shore have arrested and charged a man over a ‘glassing’ incident at a Crows Nest pub.
About 12.30am today (Sunday 12 August 2012), two men became involved in an altercation on the dance floor of the Willoughby Road hotel.
During the incident, one of the men allegedly pushed a schooner glass into the other man’s face, causing lacerations to his cheek and forehead.
Security staff intervened in the incident and removed the alleged offender from the hotel.
The man managed to break free from their grasp and run from the scene; however, he was spotted by police on Falcon Street a short time later.
As he was being taken into custody, the man allegedly made threats towards officers and spat in a policewoman’s face.
He allegedly became violent whilst in custody at North Sydney Police Station, causing damage to the dock area.
The 26-year-old man was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm, malicious wounding, assault police and malicious damage before being conditionally bailed to appear in Manly Local Court on Wednesday 5 September 2012.
He was taken to Royal North Shore Hospital for mental health assessment.
Meanwhile, the alleged victim, 22, was taken by NSW Ambulance Paramedics to hospital for treatment of his injuries.
