Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the armed robbery of a man at an ATM in western Sydney.

About 4.30pm yesterday (Sunday 12 August 2012), a 26-year-old Girraween man was withdrawing money from an ATM on Pendle Way, Pendle Hill, when he was approached by a man asking for the time.

The man then produced what appeared to be a silver hand-gun and told the 26-year-old to withdraw an amount of money.

The 26-year-old complied with the man’s demand and handed over an amount of cash.

The armed man then told the 26-year-old to leave the scene.

Police were contacted a short time later and are now looking for the man believed to be responsible for the robbery.

He is described as being aged in his early to mid twenties, of Mediterranean/Middle Eastern appearance, approximately 170cm tall, with a heavyset build, and short dark hair. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a grey hooded-jumper and dark track pants.
