Police investigating a number of armed robberies at businesses in Sydney’s west have today released CCTV images of people they believe might be able to assist with their inquiries.
Detectives attached to State Crime Command’s Robbery and Serious Crime Squad are investigating five incidents under Strike Force McIlwraith, specifically:
Service station, Minchinbury, 27 May 2012
On Sunday 27 May 2012, two men entered a service station on the Great Western Highway at Minchinbury just after 10pm. One of the men was carrying a silver handgun.
The men threatened a male staff member before leaving the premises on foot with cigarettes and an amount of cash.
Detectives have today (Friday 17 August 2012) released two CCTV images of a man they believe might be able to assist with their inquiries.
He is described as being of Pacific Islander/Maori appearance, aged 18 to 25 years, about 185cm tall, and with a medium build and thick, collar-length black hair.
Police would also like to speak with a second man in relation to this incident. He is described only as having a thin build and being about 160cm tall.
Newsagency, Colyton, 31 May 2012
The second incident occurred about 7.45pm on Thursday 31 May 2012 at a newsagency in a shopping complex on the corner of Hewitt and Jensen Streets, Colyton.
Two men, one carrying a silver handgun, entered the business and threatened the female staff member.
After filling a bag with cash, the men left the premises. They were seen driving out of the car park in a black Holden Commodore with NSW licence plate BL 90 HJ.
Police would like to speak with two men in relation to this incident. Both are described as being 180cm tall with a medium build.
Service station, Colyton, 11 June 2012
In the third incident, two men entered a service station on the corner of the Great Western Highway and Bennett Road, Colyton, about 1am on Monday 11 June 2012.
One of the men was carrying a dark-coloured handgun. He ordered the male attendant to fill a bag with money before both men left the premises on foot.
Police have released a CCTV image of a man they believe might be able to assist with their inquiries into this matter.
He is described as being of Pacific Islander/Maori appearance, aged 25 to 28 years, and about 178cm tall.
Police would also like to speak with a second man in relation to this incident. He is described only as being about 178cm tall.
Service station, Rooty Hill, 12 June 2012
Just before 1am on Tuesday 12 June 2012, three men entered a service station on the corner of Rooty Hill Road South and Evans Road, Rooty Hill.
One of the men was armed with a knife, while the other was carrying a pistol. The man with the gun approached the counter and pointed the weapon at the male cashier.
Shortly after, all three men left the premises on foot with an amount of cash and packets of cigarettes.
Police have today released a CCTV image of a man they believe might be able to assist with their inquiries into this incident. He is described as being of Pacific Islander/Maori appearance.
Police would like to speak with two other men in relation to this matter.
One is described as being of Caucasian appearance and with a slim build; no description is available for the other man.
Service station, Rooty Hill, 21 June 2012
About 3.15am on Thursday 21 June 2012, three unarmed men entered the same service station in Rooty Hill.
One of the men approached the male cashier and stated he intended to rob the business.
After filling a bag with cash and cigarettes, the three men left the premises on foot.
Police have today released a CCTV image of a man they believe might be able to assist with their inquiries. The man is described only as being of Pacific Islander/Maori appearance.
Detectives would like to speak with two other men in relation to this incident. They are also described as being of Pacific Islander/Maori appearance.
No shots were fired during any of the incidents and no-one was injured.
Police responded quickly to each incident. The crime scenes were forensically examined by specialist officers.
