Police are investigating the armed robbery of a chemist at Gailes this afternoon in which a male passerby received a gunshot wound to the leg.
Initial information suggests around 4.30pm, a man has entered the Old Logan Road store and threatened the attendant with a firearm before fleeing.
A passerby, a man aged in his late 40’s, was shot in the leg by the offender after giving chase on foot.
The man was taken to the Princess Alexandra Hospital for treatment to serious leg injuries.
Police wish to advise motorists the northbound lanes of Old Logan Road are closed and are expected to remain that way for a number of hours.
