Police are appealing for public assistance following the attempted armed robbery of a service station in Newcastle.
About 7.30pm today (Tuesday 25 September 2012), a man entered the service station on Sandgate Road, Shortland, and threatened a male attendant with a knife.
After the attendant refused, the man fled the store empty-handed.
He was last seen riding a pushbike along Sandgate road.
Police were alerted and officers from Newcastle City Local Area Command attended and began an investigation.
They’re appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident, or who may have seen the male involved, to come forward.
He’s described as being of medium build and was wearing a grey hooded top and grey tracksuit pants.
