Police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred at a Waterford West service station this morning.

Around 2.10am, a man has approached the locked doors of the Chambers Flat Road business and raised the attention of the store attendant.

The attendant opened the doors, and as the offender entered the store he has pulled a black shirt over his face, produced a handgun and made demands for cash and cigarettes.

The attendant has complied and placed a sum of cash and cigarettes into a white shopping bag.

The man fled the store on foot and was last seen heading towards Mark Lane.

No one was physically injured as a result of the robbery.

The man is described as being Caucasian in appearance, around 180cms tall with a proportionate build and blonde hair.

Police investigations are continuing
