ACT Policing has arrested a 32-year-old Queanbeyan man following an aggravated robbery on a taxi driver in Turner last night (22 January).
Around 6.40pm a man approached the window of a taxi and enquired about a fare. He then leaned into the taxi, pointed a syringe at the driver and demanded money.
The alleged offender and taxi driver engaged in a struggle before the driver reversed the taxi and the man left. The taxi driver called police with a description of the alleged offender and his location.
Police arrived at Haig Park in Turner and arrested the alleged offender. He was taken to the ACT Watch House and charged with attempted aggravated robbery.
The man is expected to face the ACT Magistrates Court today and bail will be opposed
ACT Policing is appealing for witnesses to an aggravated robbery on a man as he walked around Lake Ginninderra last night (Wednesday, January 18).
About 9 pm the 26-year-old man was robbed by two men near Macdermott Place in Belconnen as he walked his dog around the lake.
The man was placed in a headlock from behind by one offender while the other man approached from the front and searched his pockets. A mobile phone, sunglasses and a packet of cigarettes were stolen.
The victim managed to break free after his dog bit one of the offenders.
The offender who searched the victim is described as being of African appearance, 6’5” (196cm) tall with dark skin and big teeth. He was wearing a red hooded jumper with a white Adidas logo on the chest and black cargo pants.
The second man is described as around 6’ (183cm) tall, wearing a black jumper and possibly of African appearance.
The offenders were last seen heading towards Coulter Drive.

ACT Policing is seeking witnesses to an aggravated robbery in Holt last night (Wednesday, January 18).
About 11.30pm a man entered the 7-Eleven at the Kippax shops in Holt. CCTV footage shows the man approaching the staff members and threatening them with a knife, demanding they give him the cash from the till.
He placed a blue bag on the counter and staff complied with his request. The offender left the store and is believed to have fled in the direction of Pizza Hut.
The man is described as being Caucasian in appearance, 5’8” (173cm) tall and having a slim build. He was wearing a black hooded jumper with Puma written in large white print on the front and had the hood pulled over his head. He had black tracksuit pants on and had a white cloth covering his face.

ACT Policing is seeking witnesses to an attempted aggravated robbery which occurred in Conder last night (Tuesday, January 10).
Around 10.50pm a man was driving along Tharwa Drive when he saw a car with blue and red flashing lights on the dashboard following behind. He pulled over to the side of the road when a man got out of the passenger door and approached his vehicle.
Once he reached the door the offender threatened the man with a steel baseball bat, demanding the man hand over his wallet.
The driver handed over his wallet. The offender returned to the car after the driver of the offender’s vehicle yelled that they needed to leave quickly.
The vehicle was described as a well kept dark blue Holden V8 Commodore. It had no stripes or stickers, and had stock wheels, rims and spoiler.
The offender is described as around early 40s, of Caucasian appearance, 183cm (6’) tall, dark stubble on his face. He was wearing a black tight muscle shirt and black pants. He spoke with an Australian accent and had an extremely deep voice.

ACT Policing has arrested five men overnight after a lengthy investigation into a number of aggravated robberies in the ACT.
On Thursday (December 1) investigations conducted by members from ACT Policing’s Criminal Investigations revealed that the five men, all aged in their late teens, were planning on committing an aggravated robbery on a club in Canberra’s south.
On Thursday evening (December 8) three of the five men were seen by police approaching the front door of the club armed with knives and a hatchet. The three men, wearing disposable coveralls, attempted to gain entry to the locked club.
ACT Policing’s Specialist Response and Security members approached the men who were subsequently arrested out the front of the club. The other two men were seen leaving the area in a vehicle and were arrested after police stopped the vehicle a short distance away.
All five men were conveyed to the ACT Watch House and will face the ACT Magistrates Court, charged with conspiracy to commit aggravated robbery.
Two 13-year-old boys and two male youths, aged 16 and 17, were arrested by ACT Policing this morning (Wednesday 30 November) for an armed robbery at a service station in Weston overnight.
Police will allege the four youths, two armed with firearms, entered the Caltex Service Station on Brierly Street in Weston and approached the counter, demanding cash. They stole the till and cigarettes, and were seen leaving in a silver-coloured Toyota Hilux.
The vehicle was found by police a short time later, abandoned in Tepper Crescent in Kambah. Immediate checks on taxi movements by a Woden General Duties patrol revealed a taxi had picked up four passengers from the same area.
The Woden patrol stopped the taxi in Gordon, and identified the four youths from the earlier armed robbery. They were arrested and taken to City Police Station where they are being interviewed by police.
Specialist Response and Security members recovered the two firearms used by the youths in the armed robbery following a search of the area.
The arrest of the four youths was the result of a collaborative ACT Policing response, including members from Woden and Tuggeranong General Duties patrols, Specialist Response and Security, Criminal Investigations and Police Operations.
Around 9.05pm a man approached the console operator of the Coles Express service station in Hawker. The man, who was armed with a knife, threatened the console operator and demanded cash. The console operator handed over a sum of money. The man placed the cash in a bag he was carrying and left the service station.
The man is described as about 185 centimetres (6’1”) tall with a medium build. He was wearing a dark-coloured top over a green hooded jumper and dark-coloured tracksuit pants with three stripes down each side. He was also wearing cream or coffee coloured sneakers and black gloves. He had a black balaclava covering his face.
ACT Policing is appealing for witnesses to an aggravated robbery on a taxi driver last night in Chifley (Sunday, November 13).
About 9.35pm, the taxi driver picked up two passengers, a man and a woman, from the Corinna Street taxi rank in Woden and was asked to take them to Chifley Shops.
On arrival at the shops, the man produced a knife and demanded money from the driver. The driver grabbed the man’s hand that held the knife but was then assaulted by the woman, who also demanded money.
The taxi driver fled the car shortly after and contacted police. A small sum of cash was taken along with the car keys.
The male offender is described as Caucasian in appearance, about 5’5” (165 cm) tall, between 18 and 22 years of age and with a medium build. He has short brown hair, was clean shaven and wearing a black hooded jumper and jeans.
The woman is described as Caucasian in appearance, between 5’2″ – 5’4″ (158cm to 163 cm) tall, approximately 22 years of age with a medium build and shoulder-length brown hair
Police are appealing to the public for any information that may be able to assist in their investigation into an aggravated robbery at KFC in Hawker last night (Sunday, November 14).
Around 10pm police were called to KFC in Hawker after a man and woman entered the restaurant, each armed with a knife. The man grabbed a staff member in the restaurant however the staff member was able to break free and ran behind the counter.
The offenders approached the counter and demanded cash. They were handed a sum of cash from one of the tills. The offenders then jumped over the counter and unsuccessfully tried to obtain a further sum of money. They left the restaurant a short time later.
The man is described as about 180 centimetres (5’11”) tall with a slim build. He had a black and white mask with a green hood and dark coloured bandanna wrapped around his neck. He was wearing a dark-coloured loose fitting jacket and dark-coloured tracksuit pants. He was also wearing gloves and spoke with an Australian accent.
The woman is described as having a slim build and long dark brown hair. She was wearing black pants, a black top with a red horizontal stripe and a black balaclava. She was carrying a black bag.
Police are seeking witnesses to an aggravated robbery at the Local Liquor store at Holt last night (November 11).
About 9.45pm police were called to Local Liquor in the Kippax Fair Shopping Centre after a man entered the store with a knife. The man demanded and obtained a sum of cash from the staff member behind the counter. He left through the front door of the store.
The offender is described as about 170 centimetres (5’7”) tall, in his early to mid 20s, with a slim to average build. He was wearing dark long pants, a black bandana and a black hooded jumper with red fabric or a red design on the front.
