A man has been charged following an alleged attempted armed robbery at a bank in Grantville last week.

The incident took place about 10.55am on Monday 8 October, where a man allegedly armed with a hammer and a knife entered the Bass Highway premises.

A 49-year-old Grantville man was arrested and charged with attempted armed robbery and was remanded to appear at Latrobe Magistrates’ Court today.

Armed Crime Squad detectives have arrested a 49 year-old man following an attempted armed robbery in Grantville on Monday (8 October).

Investigators have been told a man entered a bank on Bass Highway about 10.55am armed with a knife and hammer.

He approached two different bank attendants and made demands for cash before leaving empty-handed.

No one was injured during the incident.

The 49 year-old man was arrested about 5:30 pm today in Traralgon.

The investigation is ongoing.

Police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred in Rockhampton yesterday evening.

At about 7.45pm, a man using an automatic teller machine in Musgrave Street was approached by a man armed with a knife who demanded his wallet.

The man attempted to run from the armed man, however fell dropping his wallet.

The armed man took the wallet and fled the scene in a vehicle.

No one was injured during the incident.

Investigations are continuing.

A man has been charged over the alleged armed robbery of a money transfer service in Sydney’s west three months ago.

About 2pm on Tuesday 19 June 2018, a man allegedly armed with a handgun entered a money transfer store on Main Street, Blacktown, and threatened the owner, demanding cash.

The man stole cash and fled the store on foot.

Local police attended a short time later and established a crime scene, which was examined by specialist forensic officers.

Detectives from the Robbery and Serious Crime Squad established Strike Force Koobilya to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Following extensive investigations, strike force detectives arrested a 35-year-old man at Blacktown Police Station about 9.15am yesterday (Wednesday 19 September 2018).

He was charged with robbery whilst armed with a dangerous weapon and recklessly deal with proceeds of crime.

Police will allege in court that the man used the proceeds of the robbery to purchase a Nissan Skyline on Thursday 21 June 2018.

The Bungarribee man was refused bail and is next due to appear at Blacktown Local Court on Thursday 15 November 2018.

Police are investigating a series of ATM skimming incidents in Paynesville last month.

A skimming device was placed on an ATM in The Esplanade in Paynesville between 22-26 June.

The card information obtained was then used at numerous ATM’s in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne on 1 July.

Two males were seen in the vicinity around 6.15am and 6-7pm on each day the skimming occurred.

Both males are perceived to be of Indian Sub-Continental appearance and were wearing dark-coloured jackets and beanies.

The first male is described as 170cm tall, approximately 35-40-years-old with a shaved head.

The second man is described as 180cm tall, approximately 30-years-old, with short dark curly hair.

Police would like to remind ATM customers to cover the key pad when using an ATM to protect their personal information.

Investigators have released images and CCTV of two men they believe can assist with their enquiries.

 

An investigation is underway following an armed robbery at a credit union in Dapto today.

About 2.45pm (Thursday 28 June 2018), a man entered the bank on the Princes Highway armed with a knife.

He threatened staff members while demanding money.

A sum of cash was handed to the man and he ran from the premises.

No one was injured during the robbery, and detectives from Lake Illawarra are now conducting a full investigation.

A man has been charged by detectives from the Armed Crime Squad following an alleged attempted armed robbery at a bank in Geelong last week.

A 55-year-old Winchelsea man was charged on 11 May with attempted armed robbery, common law assault, assault with a weapon and commist offences whilst on bail.

He faced Geelong Magistrate’s Court that day and was remanded to appear again on 3 August.

The charges follow an alleged incident at a bank on Moorabool Street on 10 May.

Armed Crime Squad detectives have arrested two men this morning as part of their investigation into an armed robbery at a bank in Laverton last year.

A 55-year-old Altona man was arrested with assistance from the Special Operations Group in Lark Street, Altona shortly after 8am.

A 43-year-old Mordialloc man was arrested by police on Nightingale Street, Balaclava.

The pair will now be interviewed by police.

The arrests follow an armed robbery at a bank on Aviation Road, Laverton on 21 December, 2017.

A quantity of cash was taken during the incident.
