Detectives from the Mackay Criminal Investigation Branch have charged two men following an alleged armed robbery that occurred on Bridge Road in West Mackay on January 29.

It will be alleged around 3.50pm, a 34-year-old man made a transaction at an Automated Teller Machine and was walking back to his vehicle when he was approached by two men.

One man allegedly produced a club and a knife and the other man produced a knife. The men then allegedly threatened the 34-year-old, demanding the keys to his vehicle and the money he had just withdrawn.

The man complied, and the two offenders allegedly fled the scene in the man’s vehicle.

A 27-year-old West Mackay man was arrested on January 30 and charged with armed robbery in company, unlawful use of a motor vehicle two counts of enter premises and commit indictable offence by break, and one count each of wilful damage, fraud and trespass.

He is due to reappear in Mackay Magistrates Court this morning.

A 37-year-old North Mackay man was arrested yesterday and charged with armed robbery in company and unlawful use of a motor vehicle and is due to appear in Mackay Magistrates Court this morning.

Mackay detectives are investigating an armed robbery that occurred on Bridge Road in West Mackay early this morning.

Around 3.50am, a 34-year-old man has just made a transaction at an Automatic Teller Machine and was walking back to his vehicle when he was approached by two men.

One man produced a club and a knife and the other man produced a knife. The men threatened the 34-year-old, demanding the keys to his vehicle and the money he had just withdrawn.

The man complied, and the two offenders fled the scene in the man’s vehicle – a white 2009 Holden Colorado bearing Queensland Registration 857WNF.

The 34-year-old man was not physically injured as a result of the robbery.

Two men have been charged after an attempted theft from an ATM at a shopping centre in Magill.

At 4am this morning (Tuesday 23 January), police were called to the shopping centre on Magill Road after several alarms were detected.

Two men were seen leaving by police in a Volkswagen hatchback. Upon seeing police the men drove off and immediately collided with a brick wall in the carpark of the shopping centre.

One man was arrested while the other ran from the scene. He was arrested a short time later on Magill Road.

One man was taken to the City Watch House while the other was taken to hospital for treatment of a head wound following the collision.

Police discovered that the supermarket had been broken into along with an adjoining butchers shop. An attempt was made to gain access to an ATM but with no success.

A 34-year-old man and a 35-year-old man both of no fixed address have been charged with serious criminal trespass and illegal use of a motor vehicle. They have been refused police bail and are expected to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court either late today or tomorrow.

Checks by police revealed the car was stolen and was bearing false plates.

Police are also investigating links between the break-in at Magill and an earlier break-in at the Franklin Street bus depot where an unsuccessful attempt was made to gain entry into two carpark cash machines.

Police are investigating an ATM robbery in Melbourne’s CBD last month.

Investigators have been told a woman in her 50s was withdrawing money at an ATM on Elizabeth Street near Bourke Street about 8.45pm on Saturday 23 December.

She was approached by a man who made demands and grabbed cash from her hand.

The victim attempted to retrieve her money but was thrown to the ground by the offender.

Her limited edition Prada wallet and its contents were also stolen during the incident.

The wallet is rectangular in shape and has orange straw huts and small green palm trees on it.

The victim’s stolen credit card was later used at a service station on Bay Street in Port Melbourne.

The offender rode off on a bicycle and the victim chased him for a short time before the man stopped and attempted to take the remainder of the woman’s cash from her hand.

A passer-by intervened and the victim escaped.

The man is described as aged in his late 20s or 30s and about 183cm tall with an athletic build, tanned complexion and long brown hair.

Investigators have released an image depicting the stolen wallet, as well as CCTV of a man who may be able to assist them with their enquiries.

Police are investigating an armed robbery at East Maitland.

Just after 9.30am today (Thursday 4 January 2018), a man entered a financial institution on George Street armed with a firearm.

The man, who had his face concealed, threatened staff while demanding money.

He fled with a sum of cash and was seen leaving the area in a white Holden Commodore driven by another man.

Police were alerted and officers from Central Hunter Local Area Command attended, established a crime scene and conducted a canvass of the area.

Investigators are appealing for public assistance to identify and locate those involved.

The man is described as being approximately 173cm tall and with a thin to medium build.

The vehicle is described as a white Holden Commodore with distinctive mag wheels. There was no registration plate on the vehicle.

Police have not been given a description of the driver.

Anyone with information is urged to come forward.

Police are investigating following an armed robbery in Brookvale yesterday.

Just after 2.30pm (Thursday 4 January 2018), a man entered a financial institution on Pittwater Road, armed with a knife.

The man threatened an employee, demanding money before fleeing with a sum of cash.

Officers from the Northern Beaches Local Area Command established a crime scene and have commenced investigations assisted by officers from the State Crime Command’s Robbery and Serious Crime Squad.

As inquiries continue, police wish to speak to a man who they believe can assist them with their inquiries.

The man is described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 40 years old, 180cm-185cm tall, and of a large muscular build.

He was last seen wearing a long sleeved brown t-shirt, white shorts, and white shoes.

The employee was not physical injured during the robbery.

Detectives have charged a 42-year-old man with number of offences following an alleged attempted armed robbery of a bank in Tewantin and the unlawful use of a motor vehicle in Noosaville yesterday afternoon.

Police will allege around 1.15pm, the man entered a bank on Poinciana Avenue and threatened staff by claiming to be armed with a firearm before demanding cash.

It is further alleged the man has then taken a sum of cash belonging to a customer and has continued to threaten staff for money. Staff complied with the man’s demands and it is alleged that he then left the bank on foot with a quantity of cash.

Police will allege around 5pm the man has approached an 18-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman who were sitting in a vehicle at a hotel carpark on Gibson Road and has made threats towards them.

The 18-year-old has then exited the vehicle and the man is then alleged to have attempted to drive off in the car with the passenger still in the car.

The 18-year-old man has opened the driver’s door of the car and has attempted using force to restrain the 42-year-old.

The man has then allegedly crashed the vehicle into two parked cars and was detained by the 18-year-old until police arrived.

Police arrested the man and he was transported to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital for treatment to injuries received as a result of the incident.

A 42-year-old Noosaville man was charged with one count each of armed robbery, robbery, deprivation of liberty, dangerous operation of a vehicle, assaults occasioning bodily harm, driving a vehicle without a licence, failing to provide a specimen of breath for analysis, breach of bail and two counts of common assault.

He is expected to appear in the Maroochydore Magistrates Court tomorrow.

 

Police have charged another man with several fraud offences following an ongoing investigation across Sydney’s CBD.

Strike Force Ambleside was established in March 2017 by detectives attached to Sydney City Local Area Command to investigate ATM fraud within the city.

Police will allege in court a 53-year-old man was involved in fraudulent withdrawals to the value of more the $6000 and a further $35,000 in attempted withdrawals.

Following investigations, officers attached to the South West Metropolitan Region Enforcement Squad attended a home on Knight Street, Lansvale, about 6.30am today (Tuesday 4 October 2017), and executed a search warrant.

During the search, police allegedly located and seized a number of blank cards, a card reader/writer and documents.

The 53-year-old man was arrested and taken to Cabramatta Police Station, where he was charged with nine counts of dishonestly obtain financial advantage, 14 counts of attempted dishonestly obtain financial advantage and possession of equipment to make identification documents or things.

The Lansvale man was granted conditional bail and is due to appear at Downing Centre Local Court on Wednesday 1 November 2017.

Inquiries by Strike Force Ambleside are continuing.

Elizabeth Police are seeking information from the community after a man was robbed at an ATM last night at Elizabeth.

Just after 8.30pm on Wednesday 23 August, a man had just used an ATM at the Elizabeth Shopping centre on Oxenham Drive, when a male approached him from behind and placed a sharp object into his back and demanded the money he has just withdrawn.

The victim handed over his wallet and the suspect fled on foot, dumping the wallet minus the cash and credit card shortly after.

Holden Hill Police are investigating the discovery of a card skimming device attached to an ATM at Prospect.

Just before 2.30pm on Wednesday 26 July, police were called to a bank at the North Park Shopping Centre on Main North Road after staff reported a card skimming device attached to their ATM.

Crime Scene investigators attended the scene and removed the device and investigations are continuing.

  • ATM’s located inside banks tend to be harder for suspects to target due to the abundance of staff on hand
  • check your bank statements
  • cover the key pad when entering your PIN
  • if you notice a loose fitting card slot or plastic bar, inform the bank immediately
  • report any unauthorised transactions to your bank and the police as soon as possible
  • to be vigilant when using ATM’s
