Police are calling on witnesses in relation to an assault that occurred outside a Mitchell Street pub on 04 June 2011.
It is alleged that the assault occurred between an unknown male and two other males aged 18 and 22 years outside Wisdom Bar and Cafe at approximately 2:45 am Saturday morning, resulting in the two males receiving a number of injuries.
Police urge anyone that may have witnessed the assault, or who may recognise the male, to contact them on 131 444.
Two men will appear in court after allegedly using a stolen vehicle in a ram raid in Alice Springs at the weekend.
Police received a report around 4am on Sunday that a stolen red Mazda Bravo utility had been used to ram the front doors of the All Seasons Oasis in Gap Road. Offenders then allegedly stole a large quantity of alcohol before driving off. The vehicle was stolen from a residence in Battarbee Street earlier in the night.
About half an hour later the thieves allegedly kicked in the glass doors at the Shell Truck Stop in Dalgety Road and made off with mobile phones, Telstra cards, cigarettes and food, as well as removing a safe containing a large quantity of cash.
Later on Sunday morning a police patrol located two males matching the description of the offenders. The two men aged 20 and 22 were arrested and police located a large sum of money in one of the men’s possession believed to be part of the proceeds of the Truck Stop unlawful entry.
The pair have been charged with numerous offences including unlawful use of a motor vehicle, two counts of unlawful entry and two counts of stealing.
They have been remanded in custody to appear in the Alice Springs Magistrates Court today. The stolen motor vehicle is yet to be recovered.
With the assistance from members of the public, Palmerston Police arrested a 20-year-old male this afternoon after he held up a supermarket in Driver.
The male attended the store at approximately 4:00pm with a jumper wrapped around his head as a disguise. He produced a knife and demanded cash from the register.
He then fled on foot down Driver Avenue with a quantity of cash.
Palmerston Police members attended the scene and after a short search and a chase, located some of the stolen cash and apprehended the male several streets away hiding in bushes.
Watch Commander Greg Pusterla said this was a great result for all involved.
“I would really like to thank not only the retired Police Officer and other members of the public who assisted us with the apprehension, but also the speedy response from Palmerston Police members. Within 10 minutes of us receiving the report, the members had attended and arrested the male,” he said.
Another 20-year-male has also been arrested in relation to the same offence.
General Crime Detectives are investigating an armed robbery that occurred at around 2:00 am this morning in Humpty Doo.
It was reported to Police at around 2:20 that a man approached the 22-year-old Assistant Manager of the Humpty Doo Tavern as she was counting the night’s takings.
The man then produced a knife and held it against her neck before fleeing the scene with a significant amount of cash.
He is described to be of Caucasian appearance, slim build, approximately 183 cm’s tall and was between 30-35 years of age. At the time of the incident he was wearing a blue checkered shirt, green tracksuit pants a balaclava and an old green VB hat.
Of note he was described to have an extremely Australian accent.
Alice Springs police are investigating eight unlawful entries which occurred in town over the weekend.
Thieves forced open a glass door to gain entry to a building at Pioneer Park Turf Club sometime between 5.30pm on Friday and 2pm on Saturday.
They then smashed a cigarette machine before fleeing the premises. It is not yet known what was stolen.
Larapinta Primary School was also targeted at the weekend with offenders smashing two windows to gain access to the premises. Offenders ransacked some areas inside the buildings and painted graffiti extensively around the premises. The incident occurred some time between 4pm on Saturday and 1pm Sunday.
An 82-year-old woman’s house was ransacked when thieves broke into the premises on Sunday. The woman told police she went out around 1pm and returned around 6.16pm to find thieves had smashed a window to gain entry and had stolen a large amount of cash, jewellery and artwork. They gained entry to the house by smashing a window.
Other unlawful entries occurred at residences in Gap Road, Lloyd Street, Carruthers Crescent, Bowman Close and Burke Street.
Thieves entered the Burke Street property through a laundry window while the occupants were out sometime between 3pm and 7pm on Thursday. They made off with a 40” TV, watches, cufflinks and a camera.
Police are investigating an incident in Alice Springs this afternoon in which a 16-year-old girl was threatened with a knife and robbed.
The girl told police she was walking near the Fresh in the Desert Store near the Civic Complex on Railway Terrace on her lunch break when she was approached by a man who threatened her with a knife before robbing her.
The girl said the man grabbed her by the arms and pushed her against a wall. He then took a 10cm knife from his jeans and threatened her with it. When he demanded money the girl gave him $20 and he walked off towards the Stuart Highway.
The offender is described as being of Aboriginal appearance, approximately 174 cm tall and about 40-years-old with a skinny build. He had unruly dark hair shot through with grey and a greying beard. He was wearing a blue long-sleeved shirt, a red sleeveless vest and blue jeans.
Detectives investigating the incident are checking CCTV footage of the shopping centres and are calling on anyone who may have been in the area around 1pm or who may have seen a man matching the offender’s description to come forward.
Katherine Detectives today arrested to two youths aged 14 and 17 in relation to the aggravated robbery at the United Service Station on 9 April 2011.
They have both been charged with aggravated robbery and deprivation of liberty. The youths were also charged with an unlawful entry and stealing from the Katherine Tennis Club on the same night. Four youths have now been charged over this incident.
The youths have been bailed with strict conditions prior to appearing in the Katherine Youth Justice Court on the 20 July 2011.
At approximately half-past-seven last night, a male offender has entered the Driver Supermarket store in Palmerston brandishing a large, rusted machete.
The offender has threatened the attendant and demanded money from the till.
The offender is described as approximately six foot tall, wearing a yellow hooded jumper with the words DMX written across the front of it in white.
The hood was pulled over his head and a black cloth material covered the rest of his face.
Only his eyes were visible.
He was also wearing dark pants, runners and gloves.
The offender received money from the attendant before running from the store.

A 39-year-old man was knocked unconscious after he was assaulted by three men in Alice Springs on Friday night.
The victim told police he was walking along the Wills Terrace footbridge at around 11.30pm when a vehicle stopped alongside the bridge and three men got out of the car. They then approached him and allegedly assaulted him. He was hit over the head with an unknown object and then kicked a number of times as he lay on the ground.
The victim walked to his home in Eastside and attended the hospital for treatment the next day and also reported the incident to police.
All three offenders are described as Caucasian males. One of the men appeared to be in his early 20s, approximately 165cm tall with a medium build, wearing a dark cap, black and white patterned jacket and denim jeans. The car is described as being a dark hatchback or small four-wheel-drive.
The victim told police the assault rendered him unconscious and when he woke up he found $320 in cash was missing from his wallet.
Police are appealing to anyone who may have been in the area around the time of the assault to come forward.

Police are appealing for public assistance after the Red Rooster Restaurant in Darwin was robbed overnight.
Police received the report just after 7.30pm after a hold-up alarm was activated. The 20-year-old female employee victim informed police she was approached by a man wearing a hoodie over his head who threatened her.
The man demanded money and the victim emptied the till into a plastic bag. The offender then left the premises and ran along Knuckey Street
Members of the Major Crime Unit are investigating and are appealing to anyone who may have seen a person matching the offender’s description to come forward. The offender is described as being a Caucasian male in his 20s to 30s approximately 175cm tall , medium build and wearing a sky blue hoodie, blue jeans and possibly thongs.
