Police are investigating an armed robbery which was committed at the Shorewell Pharmacy around 2pm this (Thursday) afternoon.
Three female employees were working in the pharmacy when a male offender entered the shop and demanded that he be given the prescription drug, Oxycontin. He threatened the staff with a knife and he was able to access a safe where he then took a large quantity of Endone and Oxycontin.
The offender and his co-offender who kept watch at the door, then fled on foot and were last seen walking away through a park on the Western side of the Shorewell Plaza complex.
One offender was described as approximately 5’10” (179cm) tall, of medium build wearing oversized track suit pants, a dark top and a black, peaked beanie.
The other offender was described as male, 5’7” (172cm) tall, strong build wearing a checked jacket. He was wearing a hat, either balaclava or beanie and may have had a stocking like material over his face.
Police have charged a man following an alleged armed robbery of a chemist at Clifton Beach this morning.
About 9am a man entered the Captain Cook Highway premises where it will be alleged that after being served, he presented a knife and demanded prescription drugs.
Staff co-operated and upon being provided the drugs the man left the store.
No one was physical injured during the robbery.
The man is due to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on June 9 charged with one count of armed robbery.
Police have charged a man in relation to the armed robbery of a chemist at a West Burleigh Road shopping centre around lunchtime yesterday.
It is alleged during the incident the man was armed with a knife.
A 28-year old man with no fixed place of abode has been charged with armed robbery and stealing.
He is due to face Southport Magistrates Court today.

Around midday a man entered the chemist armed with a knife and made demands from the store employee before fleeing with some items.
Police attended the scene and detained the offender in the carpark of the shopping centre.

Police are investigating following the armed robbery of a pharmacy in Albany Creek tonight.
Around 6.40pm a man armed with a knife entered the pharmacy on the corner of Keong Road and Old Northern Road and threatened two female shop assistants before making demands for cash.
The shop assistants complied and the man fled the store with a quantity of cash and prescription drugs.
The man is described as being approximately 20 years of age, Caucasian in appearance with pale complexion. He was wearing a black hooded jumper, black sunglasses and carrying a blue bag.
No one was physically harmed during the incident.
Investigations are continuing.
Police are investigating the armed robbery of a pharmacy in Southport that occurred this evening.
Initial information suggests that at around 6.40pm, a man has entered the pharmacy on Nerang Street and produced a knife.
He made demands for medication, and pharmacy staff have complied and handed the man a quantity of drugs.
The man has then fled the scene and was last seen on foot heading west on Nerang Street.
No one was physically injured as a result of the robbery.
Investigations are continuing.
Police investigating the armed robbery of a pharmacy in Guildford last month have released CCTV images.
About 12.50pm on Tuesday 10 February 2015, a man wearing a hooded jacket entered a pharmacy on Guildford Road.
The man threatened the female attendant with a knife, demanding money and prescription drugs.
She complied and the man left the pharmacy with cash and drugs. He was last seen running towards Collins Lane.
Police from Rosehill Local Area Command were notified of the incident and attended the location.
Investigators have now released CCTV footage of a man who may be able to assist with inquiries.
The man has been described as being of Mediterranean/Middle Eastern appearance, with a solid build, and full beard. He is depicted in CCTV wearing a dark coloured beanie, black West Tigers jacket, red shorts, sunglasses, and carrying a bag.
Anyone with information about the robbery or the man’s identity is urged to contact police.
Police are investigating after a man armed with a knife attempted to rob a Labrador pharmacy last night.
Initial information suggests the armed man entered the Brisbane Road store shortly before 8pm threatening the male attendant whilst making demands for cash.
The man attempted to open the til but was unsuccessful fleeing the store empty handed.
He is described as Caucasian, aged in his 20’s and around 178cms tall.
He was wearing a black jacket over the top of a grey hoodie, long dark pants and had a cloth covering his face.
No one was physically injured and police investigations are continuing.
 
Detectives have released the image of man they believe can assist with investigations into the armed robbery of a pharmacy at Twin Waters on Friday, January 16.
The man (pictured) was seen to be wearing a white protective suit covering his body and hazmat mask. He is described as being in his 40s, Caucasian in appearance, of a slim build, with grey/brown hair and around 178cms tall.
Around 12.15pm, he is believed to have entered the Ocean Drive business and threatened three female staff members with a knife, before demanding they hand over a quantity of drugs.
After being handed the drugs, the man forced the women into the back of the store, sprayed them with liquid and left an item on the counter that was made to look like an explosive device.
The man then fled the scene on foot, and was last seen heading towards a nearby golf course.
Nobody sustained serious physical injuries, and chemical and air tests were completed, all of which came back clear.
He was seen by witnesses walking around outside the pharmacy and a nearby doctor’s surgery for about 40mins before entering the pharmacy.
Sunshine Coast detectives urge anyone with information which could lead to the identity of this man, or who may have any other information which could assist in this investigation, to contact Crime Stoppers or Policelink.
Detectives from Indooroopilly Criminal Investigation Branch have charged a man after members of the public foiled an attempted armed robbery at Kenmore today.
Police will allege that a man armed with a knife entered a Moggill Road pharmacy around midday and demanded cash from a 27-year-old male employee.
The offender however ran off empty handed after noticing a member of the public standing outside the pharmacy observing what was going on.
The member of the public, a 21-year-old man, gave chase and was soon joined by two other men, a 51-year-old and 24-year-old.
The 21-year-old man tackled the offender in the grounds of a nearby school. The three men then waited for police to arrive before handing over the would-be thief.
A 29-year-old Lawnton man has been remanded in custody and is due to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Monday, January 19, where he also faces a charge of enter premises and commit an indictable offence.
