At 4.36pm on 22 November 2012 a male has entered the Glenorchy News Agency located in the Glenorchy Centro Complex.  He immediately jumped the counter of the New Agency, producing a knife and told the female attendant to “get back’.  The male grabbed a bag from behind the counter containing a small amount of cash and immediately ran from the Centro Complex, exiting via the Terry Streetentrance/exit.

The offender entered a taxi parked on Terry Street and was transported only a short distance to Hull Street, Glenorchy.

He is described as being of slim build, wearing a distinctive red hooded jumper with black writing, also wearing black sunglasses, black sneakers and black track pants.  The male attempted to disguise his identity by covering his head with the hood of his jumper and wearing sunglasses.  Investigations have revealed the male was in the company of a female who is described as in her early twenties, medium build and wearing a pink top.

No persons were physically injured during the incident.

CCTV captures the offender’s movements before and after the incident and police are following a specific line of enquiry in relation to the identity of both the male and female.

On the 22nd of November 2012, a 16 year old male youth was arrested and charged with two counts of Armed Robbery.

About 12.00pm on Tuesday the 20th of November 2012, the youth entered the Chinese Circulation Therapy, Elizabeth St, Launceston, armed with knife. He demanded money from an employee and subsequently ran from the store with a quantity of cash.

About 10.30pm on Wednesday the 21st of November 2012, the youth entered Video City, Bathurst St, Launceston, armed with a knife. He produced the knife to an employee behind the service desk and demanded money from the till. He subsequently ran from the store with a quantity of cash.

The youth was arrested by uniform police a short time later.

He is to appear in the Youth Justice Court on the 22nd of November 2012.

Police are continuing to investigate the fraudulent use of an ATM card at a Westpac ATM at Glenorchy in June 2012.

It’s alleged the man took an ATM card and cash which had been left in the machine and used the card, which had the PIN on it, to make further withdrawals.

Police are seeking assistance from the public to identify the male pictured.

Hobart Detectives have today charged a 24 year old Huonville man with Armed Robbery of the Video Ezy Store at New Town in September this year.

On the evening of 5 September a man entered the store carrying a crowbar and demanded cash from the male attendant.

The offender escaped with a small amount of cash.

The offender will appear in the Hobart Magistrate’s Court on 7 December 2012.

On Monday 12 November 2012 officers from Glenorchy CIB arrested and charged a 38 year old male from Claremont with the Armed Robbery at KFC Claremont that occurred on 3 November 2012.

The male will appear in the Hobart Magistrates Court at a later date.

Police would like to thank the media and members of the public who assisted with information for the investigation which resulted in the subsequent arrest of the offender.

Approximately 12.20am on Saturday 20 October 2012, an employee from Dominos Pizza at Rosny attended an address in Risdon Vale to deliver two pizzas.

After the driver left his vehicle, he was confronted by two males armed with a knife and a baseball bat.  The males threatened the deliverer and he handed over the pizzas and a small amount of cash.

Police were notified and attended an address in Risdon Vale, where a 21 year old male was arrested and detained in relation to the robbery.

Detectives will interview the suspect today and charges are expected to be laid.

Police are continuing to investigate a robbery committed at the Queens Head Hotel in Newdegate Street, North Hobart on 8 October 2012.

At this point the offender has not been identified.  Additional images from the surveillance footage have been captured and are available for release to the public.

About 8.30 pm on Monday 8 October 2012 the offender stole cash from the gaming area of the hotel and was chased from the hotel by a member of staff, across Newdegate Street and into Pitt Street, North Hobart.  The member of staff was assaulted as he pursued the offender.

The offender is described as being:

183 cm tall, 25 to 30 years of age, ash sandy blonde hair, ash sandy blonde short goatee, medium fit build, wearing a checked shirt, blue jeans and light coloured runner and carrying a dark coloured backpack.

 

 

 

 

At approximately 9.50 pm on Sunday 7 October 2012, police responded to an armed robbery at Video City New Town.  One male entered the store with a sawn off shot gun and left with a quantity of cash.  At the time the offender was wearing dark clothing and a black balaclava.

As a result of a co-ordinated search by uniform police the offender was apprehended in Talosa Street, Glenorchy after being intercepted by police.  At the time of the interception the offender had crashed his vehicle.  The sawn off shot gun was located in the vehicle.

A 36 year old Glenorchy male has been interviewed and charged with armed robbery and firearm offences.  He will appear in the Hobart Magistrates Court on 8 October 2012.

At 2:05 pm on Monday 1 October 2012, Tasmania Police were called to attend a report of an armed robbery at the West End Newsagency, 188 Harrington Street Hobart. The male suspect is described as;

175cm Tall, Slim Build Unshaven, Pale olive complexion, With a recent injury, to the left eyebrow.

Wearing;
Dark pants, A mid coloured blue t-shirt, A dark baseball cap, Carrying a black back pack.

The male fled the scene into Victoria Street towards Centrepoint with an amount of cash. No person was injured or any weapon sighted.

Launceston Detectives have arrested a 19 year old female in relation to an incident in which she is alleged to have threatened a shop employee with a hypodermic syringe in the Launceston Central Business District at about 2.30pm on Sunday 30th September 2012.

The female had been challenged regarding an alleged shop lifting incident. The staff member was unharmed and the female fled the scene.

Shortly afterwards the female was located and charged with Armed Robbery. The female has been detained and will appear in the Launceston Magistrates Court on Monday 01/10/12.
