A 32-year-old woman from Bridgewater has been charged with aggravated armed robbery following an incident at Eastlands Shopping Centre yesterday afternoon.

A member of security staff was assaulted with a syringe during the incident and investigators would like to speak with anyone who witnessed the incident between 3pm and 3.20pm yesterday.

The incident took place on the ground floor inside the shopping centre in the vicinity of JB Hi Fi and the ground level of the multi-story undercover car park, adjacent to the Coles loading bay.

Hobart and Glenorchy CIBs are conducting enquiries in relation to three burglaries and an attempted burglary of businesses in the Hobart and Glenorchy area overnight.

At about 10.30pm a report was received of an attempted burglary at a tyre business in Barrack Street, Hobart.  A dark coloured Nissan Patrol 4 x 4 with white Sunraysia wheels was seen at this incident by a witness. A window to the business was smashed, however entry was not gained.

A further burglary occurred at around 11pm at a tyre business in Derwent Park.  A brown Nissan Patrol 4×4 vehicle was seen at this business which had been entered by ramming the front glass window.  A small amount of cash was stolen and a significant amount of damage caused. A brown Nissan Patrol was reported stolen on 8 March from Lenah Valley.

This vehicle was later recovered by police in Wyndham Road, Claremont at about 2.20am.

A further burglary involving a ram raid occurred at a service station in Argyle Street, Hobart at about 5am.  This business door was rammed causing extensive damage and an unsuccessful attempt was made to steal an ATM.  This burglary involved a white Nissan Patrol 4 x 4. A white Nissan Patrol was reported stolen at about 1.30am from Montrose.  This vehicle has not been recovered at this stage.

At about 7.30am police received a report of a ram raid at a store in Bowen Road, Moonah that had occurred sometime overnight.  This store was entered by smashing the front door with a vehicle and a small amount of cash stolen.

A  man is in police custody and assisting police with their enquiries.

Detectives and Forensic Police are examining the scenes and vehicles.

Police are currently investigating the report of an armed robbery of a taxi driver that occurred shortly before 7am on Thursday the 4th of February 2016 in Kerry Court, Summerhill.

The driver was threatened with a knife and money demanded from him. He was not injured as a result of the incident, but the offenders allegedly took $150 in cash.

The offenders, described as two men aged in their late teens – early twenties and wearing black and grey hooded jumpers respectively, were last seen fleeing on foot towards Hardwicke Street, Summerhill.

 

42 YEAR OLD KINGSTON MAN ARRESTED FOR ARMED HOLD UP AT TERRY WHITE PHARMACY

At approximately 7.00pm on Friday 30 October 2015, a male armed with a knife entered Terry White Pharmacy, Kingston Town and demanded medication from a staff member.

The man left the store with medications and fled the scene in a white dual cab utility.

As a result of investigations, and assistance from members of the public, a 42 year old Kingston man has been charged with Armed Robbery, he will appear in the after-hours court.

No one was injured during this incident.  Police would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the hold up, or seen a white dual cab utility in the Kingston Town car park around this time.

Tasmania Police would like to thank members of the public for their vigilance, and assistance in relation to this matter.

Three Burnie men will appear in a special sitting of the Court of Petty Sessions tonight, two charged with two counts of aggravated armed robbery, and one with one count of aggravated armed robbery.

The charges  relate to two alleged robberies at Pharmacy 1, Shorewell Plaza Burnie one allegedly committed about 9.20 am this morning, Monday 3 August 2015 for which all three were charged.  The charges for the two men relate to the alleged armed robbery of the Pharmacy on 13 July 2015.

The men are unemployed and all reside in the Burnie area.  They are aged 22 years, 26 years and 28 years.

A 36 year old man from Invermay will appear in Launceston Magistrates court this morning charged with Armed Robbery.

An incident unfolded yesterday, Monday, 27 July 2015, when the offender entered the Mulgrave Street Newsagency, South Launceston at approximately 3.15pm and demanded cash from the til.

The offender had covered his face and carried a large knife. He fled the scene in an older style Subaru wagon.

Detectives were able to trace to the offender to an address in Invermay, where he was arrested and detained for investigation.

An armed offender has committed two robberies at BWS Mowbray Hotel and BWS Retreat Hotel last night.

The robberies were committed between 7:00pm and 7:20pm on 16 July 2015.

Uniform police arrived on scene locating the man still inside the bottle shop at the Retreat Hotel, where he was arrested without incident.

The 19-year-old man from Hadspen was interviewed by detectives and charged with both robberies.

He was been remanded in custody to appear at 11:30am on 17 July 2015 in the Launceston Magistrates Court.

Police are seeking information in relation to an Attempted Aggravated Armed Robbery committed at the Goodwood Newsagency, 6 Stradbroke Road, Goodwood.

Around 3pm on Thursday, 16 July 2015, two male offenders have entered the business brandishing a wooden stake.

The males have attempted to remove the cash register however were unsuccessful and have fled the area.

No persons suffered any physical injury.

The males are described as aged between 20–30 years of age, approximately 170 -175cm tall, slim build and of dark/tanned complection. The males were described as wearing hooded tops, pale grey and a dark blue in colour.

Police are investigating an armed robbery which was committed at the Shorewell Pharmacy around 2pm this (Thursday) afternoon.

Three female employees were working in the pharmacy when a male offender entered the shop and demanded that he be given the prescription drug, Oxycontin. He threatened the staff with a knife and he was able to access a safe where he then took a large quantity of Endone and Oxycontin.

The offender and his co-offender who kept watch at the door, then fled on foot and were last seen walking away through a park on the Western side of the Shorewell Plaza complex.

One offender was described as approximately 5’10” (179cm) tall, of medium build wearing oversized track suit pants, a dark top and a black, peaked beanie.

The other offender was described as male, 5’7” (172cm) tall, strong build wearing a checked jacket. He was wearing a hat, either balaclava or beanie and may have had a stocking like material over his face.

COUNTERFEIT BANK NOTES ON THE NORTH WEST COAST

 Police have again received numerous reports of counterfeit fifty dollar and ten dollar notes being circulated along the North West Coast.

Business owners should be cautious and ensure that staff are alerted to check any notes that may be presented.

If anyone has any bank note in their possession that they may have concerns about the authenticity about they should immediately contact police.
