At 8:10pm on Thursday 22 September 2016 a male entered the Ravenswood Takeaway, 67 Ravenswood Road, Ravenswood armed with a knife.

His face was covered by a motorcycle helmet.

The offender confronted two staff members and left with a small amount of cash.

No one was injured.

Police have this morning charged a 16 year old youth from Launceston with the aggravated armed robbery of a taxi driver in Mowbray on 6 September 2016.

The charged youth was released on bail to appear on 13 October 2016 in the Launceston Youth Justice Court.

A second youth has been identified and is expected to be charged soon.

At 11:25pm on Tuesday the 6th September 2016, Launceston Police responded to a report of an aggravated armed robbery in Conway Street, Mowbray.

A local taxi driver was responding to a call to the corner of Conway Street and Caswell Street where he was met by two males. The males lured the taxi driver into a nearby gravel carpark where they stole his mobile phone and produced a large knife. The males demanded money from the driver before running away from the scene.

The taxi driver was not physically harmed during the robbery and no money was taken.

At this stage, no arrests have been made and police are following a number of lines of inquiry.

Hobart Detectives have arrested and charged a 34 year old Claremont man with the Murder and Robbery of a 66 year old female at the A & B Food Store at North Hobart.

This incident occurred at about 12.20 pm on Saturday 23/7/16.

The male will appear in the Hobart Magistrates Court on Sunday 24 July 2016.

Police would like to thank members of the public for their assistance in this investigation.

At 7.25pm on Saturday 25/6/2016 a male person entered the TRC Hotel bottle shop on Paterson Street, Launceston where he purchased several items. The male then demanded money and threatened staff.

He left when the staff member said police would be called.  The incident was captured on CCTV.

Police responded quickly and soon located the suspect in Trevallyn. A 39 year old male was arrested and interviewed by Launceston CIB. He has been charged with Attempted Robbery and will appear in court in August.

No weapon was produced during the incident and no person was injured.

At 6.30pm on Wednesday 1 June 2016, two armed offenders entered the Cambridge Kitchen at 971 Cambridge Road, Cambridge. They have demanded cash and cigarettes from the female staff members.  The two male offenders had their faces covered with white masks and were wearing white protective coveralls.  Both men left the shop with a quantity of cash and cigarettes. The offenders got into a blue Holden sedan and were last observed travelling at speed on Richmond Road towards Richmond.

 

At 1.23pm on Tuesday 24th May 2016 a man entered Westpac Moonah’s premises in Main Road, Moonah, approached the bank teller and demanded money. No money was handed over, and the man fled the bank on foot and headed south.The man then entered Harris Scarfe about 1.40pm, where he approached a staff member, demanded money and left with an undisclosed amount of money contained in the cash register.

The man was last seen exiting onto Charles St.

No staff or customers were injured during the incidents and no weapon was sighted.

The man, believed to be aged between 35-45 years, is described as being:

  • Of Caucasian appearance
  • 175-180cm (approx. 5ft 10 inches) tall,
  • Thin build
  • Salt and pepper beard
  • Wearing a light grey/beige zip jacket, black trackpants/trousers, black beanie and light coloured shoes.

Hobart Detectives today charged a 21 year old Roches Beach man with the armed robbery of the Guardian Pharmacy at Elizabeth Street, North Hobart on Monday 2nd May 2016.

Approximately 5:35am on Sunday 1st May 2016 an Aggravated Armed Robbery occurred at the TRC Hotel, 131 Paterson Street, Launceston.  A man armed with a knife entered the hotel and assaulted a staff member, before stealing a quantity of money.  The staff member was treated at the Launceston General Hospital for a wound to the ear and other non life threatening injuries.

Launceston Detectives are following a specific line of enquiry.

At 12.05pm on Monday 2nd May 2016 a man entered the Guardian Pharmacy at 384 Elizabeth Street, North Hobart armed with a knife and demanded drugs from the staff.

The man has then fled the pharmacy on foot and was last seen on Newdegate Street towards Arthur Street.

No staff or customers were injured during the incident.  The man escaped with a small amount of medication.

The man is described as being:

  • 176cm (5ft 7 inches) tall,
  • Medium build,
  • Wearing a maroon hoodie, dark coloured sports shorts, white ankle socks, light coloured slip on shoes.
