Detectives investigating the armed robbery released an image from CCTV of a person of interest.

While identity of the person may not be possible from the image, police are asking if anyone knows someone who wore the hooded zip top yesterday.

Glenorchy police are today conducting searches for an offender who threatened a bottleshop employee with a firearm yesterday evening.

Approximately 8:00pm the male offender entered the bottleshop and proceeded to make threats, forcing the employee to extract money from the tills for him.

The offender is described as about 170 cm tall of medium to solid build.  He was dressed in black, wearing a black balaclava, hoody and pants (possibly of Adidas brand). His shoes were black with large white soles.

The offender left on foot, crossing the Brooker Highway in front of oncoming cars causing motorists to take evasive action to avoid hitting him.

Police are asking anyone who may have information relating to this incident to contact them on 131 444.  If you were driving on the Brooker Highway at the Derwent Park intersection, last night around 8:00pm and you saw the offender or had to take evasive action to avoid hitting him, Police would like to speak to you.

The offender in this matter had a particularly aggressive nature and Police are actively following up any information provided. Police have this morning charged a 25-year-old Bridgewater man with armed robbery after an incident at the Big Bargain Bottle Shop on Main Road at Claremont last night.

It will be alleged that at 7:45pm on Monday evening, a man wearing a balaclava and a hooded jumper entered the bottle shop armed with a knife and demanded that staff hand over the contents of the till.  The staff member handed over a sum of cash and the offender then fled the scene.

Police searched for the alleged offender and located him at a Hotel in the Bridgewater area.  The man was arrested and transported to the Hobart Police Station and was later charged with armed robbery and driving offences.  He will appear in the Hobart Magistrates Court today.

Police would like to thank members of the public who have assisted with their inquiries and would like to speak to anyone who may have seen an older model gold coloured Mitsubishi Magna in the Claremont area at around 7:45 pm.

At approximately 11pm last night, a man dressed in black and wearing a balaclava confronted two staff members exiting the bottleshop after closing up.

The man produced a large knife, demanded money and fled the scene with an amount of cash.

The man is described as approximately 6’4 tall, medium build, Caucasian, wearing black jeans, black suede lace up shoes, black hoody, a black balaclava and black gloves.

Investigations are continuing.

A 26 year old Launceston man has been charged with armed robbery following an incident at Mowbray Newsagency yesterday.

Police were called to the Mowbray Newsagency in Invermay Road, Mowbray, about 4.30pm yesterday.

Police allege the man, armed with a homemade firearm, entered the newsagency and demanded money from the staff before fleeing on foot.

No staff or customers were injured during the incident.

The man has been charged with one count of Armed Robbery and breach of bail conditions.

The man was detained for court and will appear in the Launceston Magistrates Court at 11.30am today.

Police are investigating an aggravated armed robbery that occurred around 2.15am of
Wednesday the 23rd November 2016 at the Trevallyn Gourmet Bakery situated at 20A
Gorge Rd, Trevallyn.
Two men wearing masks entered the business armed with a firearm and demanded
money from the two staff members who were working there.
The offenders left the business with an amount of cash and a safe. The staff members
were not injured during the ordeal.
During the robbery the offenders also stole a beige 2007 Land Cruiser Utility, registration
E20GN belonging to one of the employees. That vehicle has not been recovered and
assistance is also sought to find that 4WD.

Glenorchy CIB is investigating the alleged armed robbery of the One Stop Lolly and Gift Shop in Main Road early this morning.

About 7:15am Tuesday, 25th October 2016, a female staff member at the One Stop Lolly and Gift Shop was allegedly confronted outside the shop’s rear entrance by a man armed with a knife.

The man allegedly pushed the staff member and demanded cash from the business.  The staff member complied and provided a sum of cash contained in a soft blue pencil case to the offender, who then left the store.

The staff member was understandably traumatised by the incident but not physically injured.

The robbery is being investigated by Glenorchy Criminal Investigation Branch Detectives and they would like to speak with anyone who may have seen anyone suspicious or activity in the vicinity of 326 Main Road Glenorchy early this morning.

The man is aged between 20 – 30 years, about 180 cm, wearing dark track pants and a dark hooded top and dark wrap-around sunglasses and a beanie.

Two men are in police custody following an armed robbery at a Devonport Hotel Bottle Shop this morning.

A 19 year old man and a 25 year old man were arrested and are now assisting police with their inquiries.

Police were called to the Alexander Hotel Big Bargain Bottle Shop in Formby Road, Devonport, about 11am today.

Police allege two offenders, both armed with knives, entered the hotel bottle shop and demanded money from the staff.

The offenders have then fled the scene driving a 1999 white Nissan Pulsar vehicle registration number EN8605.

The vehicle was intercepted in the vicinity of Hadspen.

Enquiries have ascertained that the vehicle was stolen from Battery Point during the evening of Saturday 15 October.

No staff or customers were injured during the incident.

 

Devonport CIB is investigating an armed robbery at a Devonport hotel this morning.
Police were called to the Alexander Hotel in Formby Road, Devonport, about 11am today.
Police allege two offenders, one armed with a knife, entered the hotel and demanded money from the staff.
No staff or customers were injured during the incident.
The offenders have then fled the scene driving a 1999 white Nissan Pulsar vehicle registration number EN8605.
The vehicle was last sighted on the Bass Highway in the vicinity of Westbury.
There are a number of police units in the area.

On the morning of 27 September a burglary was reported at the Tasmanian Rowing Club at Rowing Course Road, Lake Barrington. A significant amount of property utilised to run events held at the rowing course was stolen in the burglary.

Included in the items stolen were:
• Two Yamaha 6hp outboard motors. Both of these were blue/grey in colour.
• An 18hp Tohatsu outboard motor.
• 12 x GME TX7200 hand held radios (Picture Attached) which only work on two selected channels.
• Makita angle grinder.
• Stihl brush cutter and chainsaw.

Police would like to hear from members of the public who may have seen an unusual vehicle in the Staverton and Roland areas between 5:30am and 8am on Tuesday 27 September or if they are aware of the property being offered for sale.
