Police have charged a man following an alleged armed robbery at a bakery in Mordialloc last Wednesday.

David Baker was arrested by detectives from Casey Crime Investigation Unit last night.

The 38-year-old man of no fixed place of address has been charged with armed robbery, aggravated burglary, burglary, theft, obtain property by deception and attempted burglary.

He was remanded in custody last night and will face Melbourne Magistrates’ Court today.

Police are investigating after a business was robbed at Clayfield this morning.

Around 10.25am a man entered the Junction Road business armed with a knife and approached a female employee demanding money.

After taking cash the man then left the store walking towards Dickson Street.

No one was physically injured.

He is described as 183cm tall, of average build and was wearing black clothing and a mask over his face.

A man has been detained by a shop owner and customers during an attempt armed robbery at a Post Office at Hackham this morning. Just after 10am, a man armed with a knife entered the Hackham Post Office and Newsagency on Collins Parade at Hackham. The man allegedly demanded money but was overpowered and disarmed by the shop owner and several customers in the shop. The man was detained until police patrols arrived and arrested him over the incident. The 19-year-old Oaklands Park man was charged with aggravated assault and attempted aggravated robbery. He did not apply for bail, and will appear in court tomorrow. Two male customers who assisted the shop owner received minor cuts to the arms during the incident and are being treated the scene. Police wish to remind the public, while we admire and appreciate those who stand up for others – after all, this is what police do every day – we don’t want to members of the public, and potential victims, placed at risk. Police are appealing for public assistance following an armed robbery at a newsagency near Mudgee overnight.

About 10.30pm (Saturday 15 March 2014), the 48-year-old shop owner arrived at the newsagency on Louee Street in Rylstone to accept a newspaper delivery.

He was approached by two men about midnight as he was leaving the premises, one of whom was armed with a firearm.

The armed man forced the owner into the store and threatened him with the weapon.

The pair fled the scene a short time later with an amount of cash and the owner contacted police.

The owner was not injured during the incident.

Officers attached to Mudgee Local Area Command attended and established a crime scene, which was examined by specialist forensic officers and detectives.

Inquiries into the matter are continuing and police would now like to speak to two men who may be able to assist with their investigation.

The first man is described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 180cm tall, with brown/hazel-coloured eyes and of a large build.

The second man is described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 170cm tall, with brown/hazel-coloured eyes and of a thin build.

The pair was last seen wearing dark-coloured hooded jumpers, dark pants and gloves. Both men also had their faces covered.

Anyone who knows the identity of either man or has any information that can assist investigators is urged to come forward.

Detectives are continuing their search for a man following the armed robbery of an adult store at Everton Park last month.

Investigators have released new images of a man who they believe may be able to assist them with their inquiries.

Around 3pm on February 23 a man entered the South Pine Road business and threatened a female staff member with a metal bar.

He forced her to stay on the ground while the man stole a sum of cash from the till and fled the store.

The woman was not physically injured during the incident.

The man is described as being Caucasian in appearance, about 170cm tall with a slim build, short hair and a tattoo on his left inner wrist.

Police believe he was driving a black motorcycle.

Anyone who may recognise the man or the motorbike depicted in the CCTV images is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.

Two men have been charged following the alleged attempted break-in of an ATM in the CBD overnight.

 

About 9.30pm yesterday (Thursday 13 March), a suspicious item was located on the footpath of York Street. A shopping centre and nearby buildings were evacuated as a precaution until the item was declared safe and taken for further examination

Police will allege the item had been used in an unsuccessful attempt to break into an ATM on Market Street.

Two men were arrested nearby and were taken to Day Street Police Station.

A 47-year-old man has been charged with destroy or damage property in company, being armed with intent to commit an indictable offence and two counts of having custody of a knife / cutting implement in a public place.

A 27-year-old man was charged with destroy or damage property in company.

Both were refused bail and are to appear in Central Local Court today (Friday 14 March 2014).

Police investigating the armed robbery of a Parkinson newsagency on February 22 have released a comfit image of a man who may be able to assist them with their investigations.

Preliminary inquiries indicate that around 8.40am a man walked into a shop on Algester Road at Parkinson and approached staff at the counter. He produced a knife and demanded money be placed in a bag he was carrying.

No one was injured during the incident and the man left the store after stealing some cash. He was last seen walking towards Nottingham Road.

The man is described as approximately 170cm tall, medium build and has a black moustache. He was wearing black zip up jacket with a hood and blue jeans.

Police are appealing for anyone who many have seen the incident or who may have noticed any suspicious behaviour in the area to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or Policelink on 131 444.

At around 3 pm, a man entered the store on South Pine Road. He approached a woman working at the counter and produced a metal bar. The man made threats and forced the woman to lay on the floor while he stole money from the till. The man searched the front counter area before running from the shop.

The woman was not physically injured during the robbery.

The man is described as being Caucasian in appearance, 170cm tall, slim build with short sandy hair. He was wearing black shirt and khaki cargo pants.
