A man has been charged following an alleged attempted armed robbery at a bank in Grantville last week.
The incident took place about 10.55am on Monday 8 October, where a man allegedly armed with a hammer and a knife entered the Bass Highway premises.
A 49-year-old Grantville man was arrested and charged with attempted armed robbery and was remanded to appear at Latrobe Magistrates’ Court today.

He approached two different bank attendants and made demands for cash before leaving empty-handed.
No one was injured during the incident.
The 49 year-old man was arrested about 5:30 pm today in Traralgon.
The investigation is ongoing.

Police are investigating after reports of multiple ram raids within a shopping centre on Springfield Road in Blackburn North this morning.
Two men driving what is believed to be a white, late model utility have rammed entrance doors on the western side of the centre and gained entry about 2.20am.
It is believed the vehicle has entered the shopping centre, driven around inside and been used to ram entrance roller doors to two stores.
Cash and high-end electrical items were stolen from one of the stores however nothing was taken from the second store.
Roller doors to other stores and a freestanding ATM were damaged as a result of the vehicle being driven within the centre, however no entry was gained to these stores.
Police have arrested a man in Werribee this morning following a series of incidents in Melbourne’s northwest over the past day.
It is alleged a man armed with a knife attended a service station on Horsburgh Drive, Altona North just before 3.30am yesterday morning (29 September) and fled with cigarettes.
The same man is alleged to have been involved in an aggravated carjacking on Raleigh Street, Essendon about 11.15am that morning, where a Subaru was stolen.
No one was injured during the incident and the 34-year-old victim’s car has since been recovered.
About 1pm, a second aggravated carjacking is alleged to have taken place outside a fast food restaurant on the Western Highway, Burnside.
It is alleged a man armed with a knife demanded the 62-year-old victim’s possessions before fleeing in his Holden Cruze.
That vehicle is yet to be located.
About 12am this morning (30 September), police were called to reports of a man armed with a knife at an address on Lyall Street, Werribee.
The man barricaded himself in the home and was arrested by members from the Critical Incident Response Team a short time later.
A conducted energy device was used during the arrest, with the 40-year-old Melton man taken to hospital under police guard for assessment.
No one else was inside the property at the time.
The man is expected to be charged later this morning with 17 offences, including two counts of aggravated carjacking, armed robbery, obtain property by deception, commit indictable offence while on bail, assault police and driving-related matters.
He is expected to be direct presented to Melbourne Magistrates’ Court today.
Detectives from Mill Park Serious Crime Team are appealing for public assistance following an armed robbery in Bundoora earlier today.
Police have been told two men with their faces covered entered the supermarket on Grimshaw Street about 9.30am.
Both men approached a staff member, one producing a butterfly knife and the other, a kitchen knife, before making demands for cash.
The men fled the store with a cash register drawer which was later recovered nearby, containing the cash.
One of the men is described as about 180cm tall, perceived to be Caucasian in appearance, wearing a black hoodie, black pants and black shoes with a white stripe.
The second man is described as about 175cm tall, also perceived to be Caucasian in appearance, wearing a black hoodie, black pants and white runners.
No one was injured as a result of the incident.
Fraud and Extortion Squad detectives have charged two males following an investigation into credit card skimming in regional Victoria.
Police arrested the two men, who were travelling in a car along the Hume Highway near Benalla, yesterday afternoon.
Investigators also seized skimming devices and an amount of cash which were found in the vehicle.
The arrests follow a number of alleged incidents in regional Victoria in recent months, notably in Heyfield, Paynesville, Warrnambool and Hamilton.
The two men, aged 35 and 37 from New South Wales, have been charged with conspiracy to defraud.
They are set to appear at Melbourne County Court at a later date.
Embona Taskforce detectives are investigating an armed robbery in Yarraville last month.
Detectives have been told a male offender rode a bike through the drive-thru window of a fast food restaurant on the corner of Somerville and Williamstown roads just after 1am on 4 August.
The offender forced open the window, produced a firearm and made demands for the attendant to hand over cash.
The staff member handed over a quantity of cash and the offender rode off on his bike, north on Williamstown Road.
No one was physically injured during the incident and the investigation is ongoing.
The offender is perceived to be Caucasian in appearance, aged between 40 and 60 and was wearing a dark hooded top with grey track pants.
Investigators have released CCTV and images of a man they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries.
Stonnington Crime Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for information following an attempted robbery on a taxi driver in Malvern East earlier this month.
Investigators have been told a man booked a taxi on 8 September under the false name ‘Jeff’.
He was picked up on Blackfriars Road, Wantirna about 6.30pm and taken to an address on Dandenong Road, Malvern East about 7pm.
When the taxi pulled over, the man – who had been in the front passenger seat of the taxi – then reached over and grabbed the driver in a headlock, pressing an unknown object to the back of his neck and demanding cash.
The victim stated he had no money inside the vehicle and the man fled empty-handed.
Police have released images and CCTV footage of a man who they believe can assist with their enquiries.
He is perceived as being Caucasian in appearance with a heavy build, and was wearing a hooded jumper.
Casey Crime Investigation Unit detectives have arrested two people following an investigation into the alleged manufacturing and use of counterfeit notes.
Detectives executed a search warrant at a Berwick address this morning (6 September) and seized items including counterfeit notes, a credit card and electrical equipment.
A man and woman were arrested at the scene.
The 41-year-old Berwick man was charged with 23 counts of obtain property by deception.
He appeared at Dandenong Magistrates’ Court today and has been bailed to reappear on 13 September.
A 39-year-old Berwick woman was charged with four counts of obtain property by deception and has been bailed to appear at Dandenong Magistrates’ Court on 9 November.
