A 20-year-old Kawana man is assisting police with enquiries following the armed hold-up of a service station at Norman Gardens, Rockhampton, last night.
Initial investigations suggest around 9.25pm, a man has entered the Yaamba Road service station and threatened the console operator with a syringe while demanding cash.
The 30-year-old male operator has then handed over a sum of cash before remotely locking the glass doors at the exit.
The alleged offender has then kicked his way through the glass panels to flee the scene, injuring himself in the process.
A Police Dog Squad unit was called to the scene and located the alleged offender a short time after in Denning Street, Norman Gardens.
The alleged offender received treatment at the scene and was subsequently transported to Rockhampton Base Hospital with a laceration to his right leg.
Investigations are continuing.
