A man has been charged with six counts of robbery following a number of robberies last week.
Between Thursday 18 August 2011 and Saturday 20 August 2011, police will allege a 37-year-old man was involved in six armed robberies across the Sydney metropolitan area.
Detectives from Metropolitan Robbery Unit formed Strike Force Venture to investigate the incidents.
About 5pm yesterday (Saturday 27 August 2011), the 37-year-old man was arrested by officers from Redfern police on Wellington Street, Waterloo after a foot chase.
He was taken to Royal Prince Alfred hospital for treatment after telling police he was unwell.
He was later charged with six counts of robbery with an offensive weapon, two counts of aggravated robbery, aggravated assault, rob with wounding; police pursuit – not stop – drive recklessly, negligent driving, give a false name, assault officer in execution of duty and resist officer in execution of duty.
He has been refused bail and is due to appear at Parramatta Local Court today (Sunday 28 August 2011).
