Police are appealing for information from the public after a man was assaulted and robbed in Epping.

About 10.00pm yesterday (Wednesday 18 January 2012), a 20-year-old man was writing a text on his phone, while walking through a carpark on Rawson Street, when he was allegedly approached by a man and punched in the head.

The 20-year-old fell to the ground as a result of the punch, before his attacker took his phone and fled the scene with another man who was standing nearby.

After his attacker left the scene, the man ran back to his car and drove to his place of work where he was aided by colleagues.

Police were contacted a short time later and descriptions of the alleged attacker and his accomplice were provided.

Police would now like to speak to two men who they believe can help with their inquiries.

The first man is described as being Mediterranean/Middle Eastern in appearance, over 180cm tall and having a skinny build.

The second man is described as being Mediterranean/Middle Eastern in appearance, 175-180cm tall, with a chubby build, short dark hair and a cleanly shaven face with a shaving rash on both sides of his jaw.

Anyone with information in relation to the incident is asked to contact Eastwood Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
