Police are investigating the armed robbery of a service station at Waterford in the early hours of this morning.
Just before 2am two men approached the front glass doors of the premises situated on Kingston Road and used a hammer to smash the glass entry door. At this time the console operator was in a rear room and upon hearing the doors being smashed locked himself in the room. Both offenders have entered the business and stole two cash tills.
As the offenders exited the premises a vehicle has pulled up to purchase petrol. The offenders have gone up to this vehicle and proceeded to try and smash the driver’s and passenger’s side windows. These attempts failed. One of the offenders then used the hammer to smash the driver’s side window and leant in and broke some keys off from the key ring leaving the vehicle key in the ignition.
The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, a 54-year-old man from Beenleigh, was not injured.
Both men have then fled the scene with the cash registers.
The first offender is described as being of Caucasian appearance, approximately 182 cm tall with a slim to medium build. He was wearing a black or navy coloured hooded jumper, dark coloured jeans and white sneakers. He was armed with a metal hammer.
The second offender is described as being of Caucasian appearance, approximately 185cm tall with a proportionate build. He was wearing a black or navy jacket with the word “Holden” across the front of it, black beanie and white sneakers. He was also wearing a ghost style mask.
