About 1.30pm yesterday (Sunday 18 March 2012), a man entered the service station on Church Street, Port Kembla, and asked for a packet of cigarettes, saying he would come back and pay at a later date.
The 25-year-old male shop attendant refused, at which point the man threatened him with a skateboard and came behind the counter.
Money was taken from the cash register, before the man left on foot.
Police were contacted and arrived a short time later, establishing a crime scene that was examined by forensic officers.
Detectives from Lake Illawarra Local Area Command are investigating the matter and would like to speak to a man who they believe may be able to assist with their inquiries.
He is described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 180cm tall, about 18-20 years of age, with a solid build and brown hair. He was wearing a grey coloured hooded jumper with the logo ‘DC’ on the front, khaki coloured cargo shorts and white sneakers.
