Police are appealing for assistance following a ram raid and theft of an automatic teller machine from a shopping arcade in the Blue Mountains earlier today (Wednesday 27 June 2012).
About 1.20am, a stolen Pantech truck was reversed into the front entrance of a shop front on Govetts Leap Road in Blackheath.
CCTV footage captured the driver alighting from the vehicle and forcing the entry doors open. The truck was then used to dislodge the automatic teller machine.
A second person, driving a stolen Nissan Urvan, is then believed to have assisted the truck driver in loading the ATM into the van.
They then fled the scene with the Pantech truck dumped 50 metres away.
Police attached to Blue Mountains Local Area Command attended and established a crime scene. A canvass of the region was also conducted.
Police would like to speak with anyone who saw people acting suspiciously in Blackheath last night or in the early hours of this morning.
The van used in the incident has not been located. It is a 1985 Nissan Urvan (NSW registration plates: AR 50 PN), white in colour with blue stripes along each side. It also features green curtains and damage to the tail gate.
