A man will face court following a number of alleged armed robberies in Camperdown and Glebe this month.
About 2.40pm, Thursday 2 October 2014, a 29-year-old man entered a convenience store on Parramatta Road, Camperdown, when he allegedly took a mobile phone from a counter and ran from the scene.
About 5.10pm, the man, armed with a syringe, entered a convenience store on Glebe Point Road, Glebe and allegedly threatened a 27-year-old man working in the store, demanding money.
He ran from the scene a short time later, taking a passport, a hard drive and overseas currency.
About 2.45pm, Friday 3 October 2014, the same man, armed with a knife, entered a newsagency on Pyrmont Bridge Road, Camperdown, and threatened a 57-year-old man working in the store, demanding money.
When witnesses entered the store, the man fled the scene empty handed.
Officers attached to Leichhardt Local Area Command were alerted of all the incidents and commenced investigations.
Following inquiries, about 4pm today (Tuesday 7 October 2014), police executed a search warrant at a unit on Pyrmont Bridge Road, Camperdown, where they seized a number of items and arrested a 29-year-old man.
He was taken to Newtown Police Station, where he was charged with larceny, assault with intent to rob armed with an offensive weapon, and robbery armed with an offensive weapon.
He was refused bail to appear at Balmain Local Court tomorrow (Wednesday 8 October 2014)
