A man has been charged following an alleged armed robbery and three attempted armed robberies on buses in Sydney’s Eastern Beaches early in the year.

About 9am on 31 March 2011, a 21-year-old woman was allegedly approached by a man while travelling on a bus on Cowper Street, Randwick.

It is alleged the man threatened her with a knife, demanding money, before the woman left the bus and contacted police.

About 9am on 6 July 2011, three woman, two aged 24 and one 25-year-old, were allegedly threatened by a man with a knife while travelling on a bus on Anzac Parade at Kingsford.

Again the man demanded money however the woman notified the driver and the man fled from the bus empty-handed.

Police from Eastern Beaches Local Area Command have been investigating the alleged incidents.

Following investigations, a 60-year-old man was arrested at an address in Eastlakes about 7.15am today.

He was taken to Maroubra Police Station where he was subsequently charged with robbery whilst armed with offensive weapon and demand property with intent to steal.

He was refused bail and appeared in Waverly Local Court
