Police are investigating the armed robbery of a service station on Bayview Street in Runaway Bay last night.

Initial investigations indicate a man entered the store around 10.50pm and approached the counter before producing what appeared to be a firearm.

The man allegedly threatened a male employee, made demands for money and obtained a sum of cash from the till.

The man fled the store and ran west on Broadwater Street and was last seen getting into a dark coloured car.

He is described as being Caucasian in appearance, approximately 175cm tall and proportionally built.

He was wearing a black long sleeve hooded jacket with white writing, black pants and black shoes.

Police investigations are continuing.
