Robbery and Serious Crime Squad detectives have arrested two men in relation to the 2009 armed robbery of a North Coast bowling club during which a cleaner was kidnapped.

The incident occurred about 5.30am on Saturday 30 May 2009 when three men armed with a tomahawk and sledgehammer allegedly forced their way into the bowling club at Mylestom.

A cleaner was threatened before the men took cash and alcohol. Attempts were also made to access an ATM but were unsuccessful.

The men then fled the club, allegedly forcing the cleaner into their car before driving from the scene. He was later left on the side of the road.

Robbery and Serious Crime Squad detectives have worked closely with officers from the Mid North Coast and Coffs/Clarence local area commands to investigate that incident, as well as a number of other armed robberies.

As a result of those inquiries, a 37-year-old man was arrested in Victoria in June and has since been extradited to NSW and remains before the courts.

About 7am today (Wednesday 16 November 2011), detectives arrested a further two men at their homes in Grafton and Port Macquarie.

They were taken to Grafton and Port Macquarie police stations and each charged with aggravated armed robbery in company, take/detain person in company for advantage and steal motor vehicle.

A 27-year-old Grafton man will appear in Grafton Local Court today, while a 22-year-old Port Macquarie man will face Port Macquarie Local Court today.
