Police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred overnight in Pialba.

Initial information suggests that around 7.35pm, a man has entered a Boat Harbour Drive video store and approached the counter.

He demanded money from the shop assistant, and was possibly armed with a weapon.

The shop assistant has handed over a sum of cash, and the man has left the business on foot and was last seen heading towards Boat Harbour Drive.

He is described as being Caucasian in appearance, between 35-40 years-of-age, around 170cms tall, or a proportionate build and had messy brown hair.

He was last seen wearing blue jeans, tan work boots, a grey peaked hat and a black, white and grey rain jacket.
