Crimes related to Convenience Stores

Police are investigating after a store was robbed at gunpoint in Sydney’s CBD last night.

About 10pm yesterday (Wednesday 6 September 2017), police have been told a man entered a convenience store on Elizabeth Street, Surry Hills.

The man pulled out a firearm, threatened a 24-year-old male staff member and stole cash.

The man was described as aged between 35 and 50, 180-185cm tall with a medium build and a short grey-black beard. He was last seen wearing a black hooded jumper and black track pants.

Anyone with information is urged to come forward.

Police have charged 6 males in relation to two armed robberies occurring in June and July at a Derwent Road convenience store in Werribee.

The first incident is believed to have involved four male offenders entering the business just after 8.30pm on 17 June.

Allegedly armed with knives, the offenders stole a quantity of cash and cigarettes.

An 18-year-old Mooroolbark man has been charged in relation to this, as well as the second incident, with armed robbery and appeared at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Saturday.

He was remanded to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates’ court again on Wednesday 30 August.

The second incident was reported as up to eight youths entering the same store about 7.30pm on 9 July.

Again, armed with knives, the offenders stole a quantity of cash and cigarettes.

In relation to this, a 16-year-old Bayswater boy has been charged with armed robbery and is expected to appear in children’s court at a later date.

An 18-year-old Ringwood man has been charged with armed robbery and also appeared at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Saturday.

He was also remanded to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates’ court again on Wednesday 30 August.

Additionally, three 17-year-old Werribee teens have been charged with armed robbery and are expected to appear in a children’s court at a later date.

Police are investigating following the attempted armed robbery of a general store on Stafford Road at Gordon Park.

Preliminary investigations indicate at around 6:20pm a man entered the store armed with a knife.

The man demanded money from a female staff member, who refused, before he fled the store on foot.

He was last seen running south on Rose Lane.

No money or goods were stolen and no one was physically injured during the incident.

The man is described as Caucasian in appearance, approximately 173cm tall and was last seen wearing a grey hoodie and dark pants.

Police are investigating after a man has robbed a business in Mount Pleasant overnight.

At about 9.45pm a man has entered a convenience store on Grandview Drive and threatened the female staff member with a knife. He demanded money and cigarettes and when the staff member complied, he left the store.

He is about 20 years of age and is described as 165cm tall, medium build and Caucasian in appearance.

The staff member was not physically injured during the incident.

Investigations are continuing.

Police have charged a man in relation to the armed robbery of a corner store in Maryborough this morning (August 13).

It will be alleged around 6.50am, the man entered a Churchill Street store armed with a knife where he allegedly threatened a male shop attendant before fleeing on foot with a sum of cash.

Police located the man a short time later where he was arrested without incident.

An 18-year-old Maryborough man has been charged with one count of armed robbery and is due to appear in Maryborough Magistrates Court tomorrow.

Police are the investigating the armed robbery of a convenience store in Clayfield overnight.

At 11.50pm, a man, armed with two knives, entered the Sandgate Road business and threatened a staff member.

He left the scene with a sum of cash and was last seen on a red bicycle heading towards Toombul.

No-one was physically injured.

The man is described as being Caucasian in appearance with a proportionate build, and was wearing a grey hooded-jumper with a black and white chequered flannelette over the jumper, black pants, black sneakers, and a black bandana with white markings over his face.

Investigations are continuing.

 

Investigators have arrested and charged a man following an armed robbery at a convenience store in Fitzroy North yesterday.

The incident at the store on Nicholson Street left a female staff member with injuries.

She remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition.

The 22-year-old man of no fixed address was arrested today in Carlton.

He has been charged with numerous offences including armed robbery, intentionally cause serious injury, threats, burglary and theft.

He has been remanded in custody and will appear at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.

Police are investigating four armed robberies over the past two nights in Melbourne’s north believed to be committed by the same man.

Mill Park Serious Crime Taskforce detectives believe the man first struck just after midnight yesterday at a convenience store on Diamond Creek Road, Plenty.

Investigators have been told the man entered the store and attempted to purchase cigarettes before demanding cash from the attendant.

The man threatened the sole attendant before fleeing with cash on foot north on Diamond Creek Road, Plenty.

It’s believed the man then attended at a convenience store in Mahoneys Road, Reservoir about 1am where he threatened an attendant before fleeing with cash.

Investigators believe the robber then went to a convenience store in Childs Road, Mill Park brandishing a knife and demanded cash.

He then fled with cash on foot.

Detectives believe he also attended at a Keon Parade Thomastown service station just before 3am this morning where he produced a weapon, demanded money and fled with cash.

Investigators have released CCTV and composite images of a man they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries.

The man is perceived to be of Southern European appearance, slim build, aged mid to late 20s, with facial hair.

Police have released CCTV of a man they believe may be able to assist with inquiries into the armed robbery of a shop in Carlton last week.

About 4.40pm on Friday (4 August 2017), a man armed with a large knife entered a mixed business on Willison Road.

He threatened the shop owner with the knife, before fleeing with a sum of cash and goods.

The shop owner was not injured in the incident.

Police from St George Local Area Command are investigating the incident and have released CCTV of a man they believe may be able to assist.

The man depicted has been described as Mediterranean/Middle Eastern appearance, aged 20-30, about 175cm-180cm tall, with a thin to medium build, dark spiky hair, an elongated face, and dark eyes; with one eye either lazy or slightly crossed.

He is shown wearing a black hooded jumper, baggy grey tracksuit pants, and black joggers with white soles.

Police are investigating after an armed robbery in Ultimo overnight.

Police have been told about 11.50pm (Thursday 3 August 2017), a man entered a convenience store on Quay St, Ultimo.

The man then threatened a 27-year-old man who was working at the store with a knife and demanded money.

The man has taken cash and then left the store on foot.

The employee was not physically injured during the incident.

Officers from Sydney City Local Area Command attended and established a crime scene at the location.

Investigators are urging anyone who may have information on the incident to come forward.
