Crimes related to Liquor Stores

Police have charged a man following investigations into an incident at a bottleshop at Manunda last night.

It will be alleged shortly after 8.30pm on October 9 a man entered the Alfred Street business and left with several bottles of alcohol, throwing one at an attendant when challenged.

An 18-year-old Mooroobool man has been charged with armed robbery with wounding and enter premises and commit indictable offence.

He has also been charged with several unrelated matters including burglary, receiving tainted property and obstruct police.

He is expected to appear at the Cairns Magistrates Court tomorrow (October 11).

Detectives have been kept busy this weekend after the same armed bandit committed three robberies in the space of 12 hours.
At 11.30pm on Saturday night the rampage began when he targeted an adult sex shop on the Maroondah Highway in Ringwood.
The bandit entered the store, walked around for a short time then left.
Moments later he returned and threatened the staff member with a knife before running off with a sum of cash.
The next venue to be targeted was a drive-thru bottle shop on Lower Heidelberg Road in Heidelberg.
At 11.45pm the offender approached the two sales assistants armed with a knife and again made demands for them to open the till.
Within seconds the offender was off again with the evening’s cash takings.
Not satisfied with his nightshift takings, on Sunday morning he attended a gaming venue on High Street in Thornbury.
Around 10.50am he made his way to the cashier where he grabbed her by the waist.
Armed with his knife, he began making demands for cash. The attendant complied and he was off again with an amount of cash.
Neither of the shop assistants, nor the gaming attendant were injured in the robberies.
The offender is perceived to be of Southern European or Indian appearance and aged about 20 – 25 years. He is approximately 180cms tall and had a mole above his upper lip. Police have also been told he spoke with a lisp and may possibly have a speech impediment.
Police have released images of a man that may be able to assist with their enquiries.

Police are appealing for public assistance following an armed robbery at a bottle shop in Leumeah at the weekend.

Just after 8pm (Sunday 6 October 2013), a vehicle stopped outside a bottle shop on Pembroke Road.

Two men approached the 33-year-old staff member at the front of the store and threatened him with a firearm.

The pair demanded money, before fleeing the location with an amount of cash. The staff member was not injured during the incident.

Officers attached to Campbelltown Local Area Command were called and launched an investigation.

A crime scene was established and examined by specialist forensic officers and detectives.

The Dog Squad and PolAir also assisted in an extensive search of the surrounding area, but the men were not found.

About 9pm, police were conducting patrols of Merino Crescent at Airds in relation to the incident, when they attempted to stop a silver Volkswagen and silver Hyundai Sonata.

The vehicles took off from the location and a short pursuit was initiated.

The Volkswagen – that was allegedly stolen from a Campbelltown home during a separate incident – was later dumped in Saxon way at Airds.

The Hyundai was also dumped following the pursuit in Falkiner Way at Airds and was allegedly stolen during a break and enter in Bargo at the weekend.

While investigations into the matter are continuing, detectives would now like to speak to two men who may be able to assist with their inquiries.

The first man is described as being about 180cm tall and of a solid build. He was last seen wearing a hooded jumping with a light grey hood and black body, dark track pants, black gloves and his face was completely concealed.

The second man is described as being about 178cm tall with a slim to medium build. He was last seen wearing a maroon hooded jumper with horizontal stripes, black gloves and his face was also completely concealed.

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has information that could assist detectives is urged to come forward.

Police have charged a man following investigations into an armed robbery at a Rockhampton bottle shop last night.

It will be alleged a man entered the George Street business armed with a metal bar around 7pm and threatened the shop attendant before stealing a sum of cash.

A 19-year-old Park Avenue man has been charged with armed robbery and is due to appear in the Rockhampton Magistrates Court on September 30.

Police are investigating an armed robbery at a liquor store in Murrumba Downs this evening.

At 7.50pm, a man armed with a knife entered the Dohles Rocks Road business and made demands for cash.

The man left the premises on foot with a sum of money.

No-one was physically injured.

The man is described as being Caucasian in appearance, 173cm tall with a proportionate build.

Police are investigating the armed robbery of a bottle shop at Berkeley in the Illawarra last night.

At 6:40pm, Thursday 3 October 2013, a 21-year-old man was working in the bottle shop on Kelly Street when a man wearing a balaclava and brandishing a meat cleaver entered the store.

He demanded and was handed an amount of cash and cigarettes before fleeing the scene in a brown coloured sedan which was last seen travelling north on Nolan Street.

Police from Lake Illawarra Local Area Command were contacted and attended the bottle shop where they established a crime scene which was examined by forensic officers.

Detectives are now looking for a man who has been described as being of Caucasian appearance, 165cm tall with a thin build and wearing a blue hooded top.

Police are appealing for public assistance following an armed robbery in Muswellbrook on the weekend.

Just after 6.30pm on Saturday 28 September 2013, a man armed with a knife entered a bottle shop on Bridge Street, demanding cash from the employee.

He fled the scene on foot and was last seen running towards Brook Street, with an amount of cash.

Police were called and a crime scene was established.

Detectives attached to the Hunter Valley Local Area Command have released CCTV images of a man who they believe may be able to assist with their inquiries.

The man depicted in the images, is described as being of Caucasian appearance and about 165cm tall. He was wearing a black beanie, black framed sunglasses, a black jumper and pants, with white and black sneakers.

Bundaberg police are investigating the armed robbery of a liquor store in Bargara yesterday evening.

At around 6.30pm two men entered the drive-through section of the store on foot and armed with the knife and demanded money from the attendant.

They left with a sum of cash and property from the store and were last seen walking north along See Street towards Whalley Street.

One man is described as being Caucasian in appearance, approximately 185cm tall and with a solid build. He was last seen wearing light coloured shorts, a black hooded jumper and barefoot.

The second man is described as Caucasian in appearance, 180-185 cm tall, medium build complexion and last seen wearing dark grey shorts, a black polo shirt and also barefoot. Nobody was physically injured and police investigations are continuing.

Police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred this evening in Kingston.

Around 6.50pm, a man has entered a bottle shop on Jacaranda Avenue and produced a knife and what appeared to be a firearm and demanded cash.

The attendant has then handed the man a sum of cash, and the man then ran from the business and was last seen on Jacaranda Avenue.

No one was physically injured as a result of the robbery.

The man is described as being Caucasian in appearance, around 180cms tall and had a slim build, blue hair and blond facial hair.

He was last seen wearing a blue hooded jumper, light coloured pants and white shoes.

Investigations are continuing.

Police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred last night in Annerley.

Shortly before 7pm, a woman entered a bottle shop on Ipswich Road and left a short time later.

She returned a few minutes later armed with a metal bar and demanded cash from the attendant.

The attendant has complied and handed over a sum of cash, and the woman then fled the shop and was last seen on foot in the car park.

The attendant wasn’t physically injured as a result of the robbery,

The woman is described as being Caucasian in appearance, around 160cms tall and had a slim build and black hair.

She was last seen wearing blue jeans and a black shirt.

Investigations are continuing.
