Fawkner Embona detectives are appealing for witnesses following an armed robbery at a Pascoe Vale bottle shop last week.
Investigators have been told a man armed with a Samurai sword and wearing a balaclava entered the bottle shop on Fawkner Road on Friday 31 May just after 9.00pm.
Once inside the store the man threatened the attendant and made demands for cash from the till.
The attendant handed over cash and the offender took some alcoholic cans and fled the scene. He was last seen running along Fawkner Road towards Railway Parade.
The man has been described as Caucasian in appearance in his early 20s, between 173 and 180cm tall with a slim build.
He was wearing a dark balaclava, blue hooded jumper with two stripes on the side, dark pants and light coloured runners.

The attendant handed over cash and the offender fled the scene. He was last seen running east along Albion Street towards Brunswick.
Detectives believe the same offender wearing a balaclava attended the same bottle shop last night just after 7.30pm.
The man threatened the attendant with a knife and demanded cash.
Cash was handed over and the bandit fled the scene.
He was last seen running east on Albion Street.
He has been described as Caucasian in appearance, 180cm tall with a medium build.
On both occasions he was wearing a black balaclava and dark clothing.
Just prior to 7.00pm on Sunday 2 June 2013 a male offender has entered the Big Bargain Bottleshop situated at Sandy Bay Road, Sandy Bay. The business was closing at the time and the only occupant was the male shop attendant.
The offender, who was armed with a filleting type knife at the time, has demanded monies from shop attendant, and has subsequently exited the business with an undisclosed amount of cash. He is believed to have fled the scene with several other persons in a red Ford Focus sedan registration EU2046, which was stolen from a residence in Elwick Road, Glenorchy on the evening of Thursday 30 May.
No injuries were received by the shop attendant as a result of the incident.
The offender is described as being approximately 170-175cm tall, Australian accent, of slim build, wearing a light coloured hoodie jacket, a dark balaclava or scarf, dark jeans, white gloves and white sneakers.
The stolen vehicle has also been seen in the Sorell and Midway Point areas in the past three (3) days.

At 10.50pm, three men entered the store on Gympie Road, one was armed with a knife.
Two men threatened a male attendant before the trio left the scene in a dark coloured vehicle with a sum of cash, cigarettes and alcohol.

Police have charged an 18-year-old Birkdale woman after an armed robbery of an Alexandra Hills bottleshop on May 24.
At around 5.20pm, a woman entered the Valantine Road store and allegedly threatened two male employees with a knife.
The woman allegedly stole a bottle of alcohol. The store attendants were not physically injured.
The woman has been charged with armed robbery, wilful damage, enter premises and commit indictable offence and possession of a knife in a public place.
She is due to face Cleveland Magistrates Court today.
Police are searching for a group of people following a series of incidents on Grey Street at South Brisbane last night.
At 9:15pm a group of people entered a business and attempted to steal alcohol before being challenged by an employee.
A scuffle ensured and the employee was hit on the head with an unknown object, causing minor injuries.
The people fled with some of the alcohol in a stolen blue 2008 BMW sedan with registration JSM62.
About an hour later the same people re-entered the business and attempted to steal alcohol before being challenged by an employee.
They left empty handed and are described as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander.

At around 5.20pm, a woman entered the Valantine Road business and threatened two male employees with a knife.
The woman left the store on foot carrying a bottle of alcohol.
The store attendants were not physically injured.
The woman is described as Caucasian in appearance, about 30-years-old, slim build with long brown hair. She was wearing a purple dress, black jumper and ugg boots at the time of the incident.
Investigations are continuing.
Police are investigating two break and enters that occurred earlier this morning in Westcourt and Woree.
Around 12.20am, a stolen four wheel drive was driven into a bottle shop on Aumuller Street, Westcourt.
The group of four men in the vehicle were disturbed and fled the scene without any property.
At 12.40am, the vehicle was then driven into another bottle shop in Charlotte Close, Worree.
The group has taken a quantity of alcohol and cigarettes before leaving in the vehicle.
The vehicle was located abandoned a short time later in Manuda.
The four men are all described as being Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander in appearance and were driving a black Ford Territory.
Police investigations are continuing.
Police are investigating the robbery of a liquor store in Brisbane City this afternoon.
Around 1.25pm two men entered the Roma Street store and engaged the male attendant in conversation before attempting to steal bottles of liquor.
The attendant confronted the men and a physical altercation ensued.
The men physically assaulted the attendant before he was struck over the head with a bottle.
The men fled on foot in possession of two bottles of liquor.
The attendant was transported to St Andrews Hospital suffering a laceration to his head and a contusion to his jaw.
Both men are described as Aboriginal in appearance, black hair, solid build, 185cms tall and aged in their mid twenties.
The first man was wearing black shorts with white stripes, a red jacket and white thongs.
The second man was wearing a grey polo shirt with white and black stripes, black shorts and black joggers.
Investigations are continuing.
Police have arrested a man following an incident in Ashwood on Thursday.
Investigators were called to a liquor store on Cleveland Road around 8pm following reports of an armed robbery.
A 17-year-old Glen Waverley boy received lacerations to the torso during and was taken to the Alfred Hospital in a stable condition.
Police last night arrested a 21-year-old Donvale man in relation to the incident.
He was charged with charged with armed robbery and assault and will face the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court today.
