Crimes related to Pharmacies

Police are investigating after a pharmacy on the state’s Central Coast was held up at gunpoint yesterday.

About 5pm (Friday 20 September 2013), five staff members were in a pharmacy on Maidens Brush Road, Wyoming, when two men who had their faces concealed entered.

Police have been told one of the men was armed with a gun, and the staff members were ordered to the floor.

The men took prescription drugs and cash before fleeing in a blue coloured sedan.

No one was injured during the robbery.

Officers from Brisbane Water Local Area Command attended a short time later and secured a crime scene that was examined by forensic specialists.

Investigators would like to speak to two men who may be able to assist with inquiries into this incident.

The first man is described as being of Caucasian appearance, 40-50 years of age, 180cm tall, with a large build. At the time he was wearing dark coloured cargo pants and a navy jacket.

The second man is described as being of Caucasian appearance, 185cm tall, with a medium build, and was wearing dark pants and a black jacket.

Police are appealing for information after a robbery at a pharmacy in Smithfield this afternoon (Tuesday 20 August 2013).

About 4.30pm, a man entered the Hassall Street shop and threatened staff with a knife.

He demanded money and medication from the employees.

He then left the store and was last seen walking north on Hassall Street.

Police attached to Fairfield Local Area Command are investigating the incident and would like to speak to a man who they believe may be able to assist with their inquiries.

He was described to police as being of Caucasian appearance and of a thin build. He is also described as having green eyes and as having a wound underneath one of his eyes. At the time the man was wearing a white tracksuit and a blue bandana was covering some of his face.

Police are appealing for public assistance following the armed robbery of a chemist in East Gosford at the weekend.

About 9.15am (Sunday 18 August 2013), a man entered a chemist on York Street armed with a firearm and knife.

The man threatened two staff members and a male customer and fled the location a short time later with an amount of cash and medication. No one was injured during the incident.

Police attended and launched an investigation into the incident, establishing a crime scene at the location.

Officers were told the man fled the location in a white Daihatsu Charade sedan, which was later found on Victoria Street and examined by specialist forensic officers.

Police also conducted an extensive search of the surrounding area, but the man was not located.

The man has been described as being about 180cm tall and with a solid build. He was last seen wearing a khaki-coloured jacket and camouflage pants, with a black balaclava and sunglasses

Police are investigating after a chemist in Cairns was robbed last night.

Around 9.45pm a man armed with a knife entered the Grafton Street business, threatening a female customer and demanding medication from staff.

After receiving some medication the man left the store.

The customer, a 35-year-old Yungaburra woman was not physically injured. The two staff members in the store, both women, were also not physically injured.

The man is described as being of Caucasian appearance, 183cm tall, with curly blond hair, and aged around 20. He was wearing a dark shirt, dark long pants and shoes.

A man will face court today after he was charged in relation to a number of armed robbery offences within the Lake Illawarra Local Area Command.

About 11am yesterday (Tuesday 16 July 2013), the male allegedly entered a pharmacy on Central Avenue, Oak Flats, where he threatened staff with a knife and demanded property.

He left the location after obtaining property.

Police were alerted to the incident and a patrol of the area was conducted.

Shortly after, police arrested the man on Leamington Ave, Oak Flats.

The 53-year-old man was later taken to Lake Illawarra Police Station and charged with four counts of armed robbery with an offensive weapon and armed robbery.

He was refused bail and will appear in Wollongong Local Court today (Wednesday 17 July 2013).

Police will allege the man was previously involved in a number of other armed robberies of businesses in the Lake Illawarra region between June and July 2013.

Police are investigating the armed robbery of a pharmacy in Sunnybank late this morning.

Around 11.20am a man entered the Turton Street store armed with a knife and demanded cash.

The man fled on foot with a sum of money. No one was injured during the incident.

The man is described as being Caucasian in appearance, 185cms with a slim build. He was wearing a light coloured hooded jumper, blue jeans and a black balaclava. He was carrying a grey plastic shopping bag.

About 10.40am on Thursday 4 Jul 2013, a man entered a chemist on Princes Highway armed with a knife.

He threatened a female customer with the weapon before demanding medication from a staff member.

The man fled the scene with medication and was last seen heading south on the Pacific Highway. No-one was injured during the incident.

Police were called and launched an investigation and they have now released security camera stills of a man who they believe may be able to assist with inquiries.

He is described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 170cm tall, with a thin build. He is shown in the images wearing a maroon-coloured beanie, khaki sloppy joe with maroon-coloured stripes across the arm, light grey track pants and white joggers with blue stripes. He is also shown riding a silver-coloured BMX bike.

Police from the Sutherland Local Area Command are searching for a male responsible for the armed robbery of a pharmacy in Sydney’s south.

About 6.10pm yesterday (Wednesday 3 July 2013), the male walked into the pharmacy – on Old Bush Road, Yarrawarrah – brandishing a hammer.

Waving the hammer back and forth in a threatening fashion, the male demanded the two female employees working inside the pharmacy hand him cash.

The women duly obliged, directing him to a cash drawer within the premises. The male removed an amount of money, before running from the scene.

Police were called to the business and, after speaking to the women, officers conducted a search of nearby streets. However, they were unable to find the male responsible for the armed robbery.

Detectives are investigating the incident and would like to hear from anyone who may know or may have seen the male. He is described as being between 180-185cm tall and of slim build. At the time of the robbery, he was wearing a white hooded-jumper, baggy jeans and a purple/pink bandana over his face.

Police from Lake Illawarra Local Area Command are appealing for public assistance following an armed robbery at a chemist at Oak Flats.

Shortly before 9.30am today (Saturday 22 June 2013), a man entered the store on Central Avenue, armed with a knife.

He threatened a female customer with the knife and demanded prescription drugs from the female pharmacist.

The man took an amount of drugs from the store and fled the premises.

There were three customers and two employees inside the chemist at the time; however, no-one was injured.

The man has been described as having brown/grey coloured hair. He was wearing a beanie covering his face, chequered jacket, grey tracksuit pants and white joggers.

Police are investigating the armed robbery of a pharmacy at North Ryde.

Just after 6.30pm today (Friday 21 June 2013), two men entered the pharmacy on Coxs Road with their faces concealed and armed with a knife and machete.

The men threatened the attendants, demanding money, before fleeing with a sum of cash.

No one was injured.

Police were called and officers from Gladesville Local Area Command attended and commenced inquiries into the incident.

Witnesses have told police the two offenders fled in a silver Nissan X-Trail with NSW registration BTZ40G.

Checks revealed the car was stolen from Ryde on Friday 31 May.

Investigators would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident or any suspicious behaviour in the area.
